Any slam winners at age 36 that had to play 3 days in a row ?

It will be for Djokovic 3rd day in a row of playing when he plays QF. Can he recover in time?
Any other player pull it off?

Rublev goes in as the favourite. Consecutive days for a 38 year old is too much. If Djoko pulls it off, great, if he doesn't, there is USO just around the corner.

But it's still Rublev, Djokovic should still handle him at 39.

Has Rublev ever beaten the 43-year old btw?

Rublev bageled Djok in his home town last year.. The Serb will never let himself be embarrassed by Rublev again.

I reckon if Djokovic was 65, Rublev might have a shot at winning.

Djokovic did seem to start flat today. I think recovery from one day to the next is the one area where his age really has made a huge dent in his physical ability. I think that’s why he’s so much less dominant in best-of-three now (though of course he also just doesn’t prioritize it).

Fortunately for Nole, he plays Rublev who’s lost six of his previous seven slam quarterfinals in straight sets. And will now play his first on his worst surface.

I know you are being sarcastic. However, while it might seem like a practice session, as you age, some days you just wake up and don't have it.

Lol stop this BS gloating. Except djoker everyone played 3 days in a row in first week. Tsitsipas played 4 days in a row that too 5 setters
Djoker just played 1 hr today. Just like practice session.
Djokovic is old and he needs more time to recover.

He was fine at the WTF last year where he played a 3 hour match on hard court in its entirety (not across 2 days like today) then played SF & F consecutively. He'll be fine. We haven't even seen any sign of slower recovery for Djokovic.

Djokovic is the oldest Roland Garros champion of all time. He may be the oldest Wimbledon champ if he wins. Need to check Rosewall but I think he won AO in 72.

So there is no precedent. Djokovic being GOAT is creating new records.
He is also the youngest French Open winner.

No man born after 1987 has won the French Open.

What has happened previously doesn't matter. It's a new QF match, new circumstances. He is near top 5 in the world. Rublev will be tough from the baseline and battling hard with that FH and powerful serve.

3 back to back days of competitive play is not the best to have at 36 years. Djokovic's chances have lessened.

If the match goes to 5, Djokovic is a toast. Otherwise, he stands a good chance. Djokovic should have ideally closed out Hurkacz in 3 sets. even 4 sets can be tough.

It does matter. Rublev’s never beaten a top-10 player on grass. If he beats Novak tomorrow, it’ll be a massive, massive upset.

TTW: “age is everything“
Also TTW: “lol a 36 year old playing 3 days in a row is fine“
??
I mean, you could easily turn that around on Novak fans who dismissed any age excuses from Fed or Nadal fans but now handwring about 36-year-old Novak even though he’s dropped, what, 4 sets in 18 slams matches this year?

The truth of the matter is some people overstate the effects of aging on Fed and Nadal but also Novak has aged better than they have. At 36, they both had lost much more foot speed and had serious, recurring injury issues. So I think in a sense age really was more of an excuse for them, but that’s partly to Nole’s credit for managing his body so well.

Djoker is 36 not 38. Now you are trying your best to be Srdjan
