Anybody experienced this with the Zoom Vapor Cage 4?

My daughter (13) has had multiple Nike models and 2 pair of these, but never seen anything like this ever. Both sides ripped in the same spot. It’s now about to split wide open and she said it feels like the whole upper is about to blow open when she runs.
We sent them to Nike for a defect return and they refused it, saying it was normal wear from “excessive friction.” [emoji849]
Disappointed to say the least.

Yep it seems to be, especially since she’s not had them long and her other pair hasn’t done it.
SO disappointed that Nike wouldn’t honor a claim, considering the tens of thousands of dollars we’ve spent with them over the last few years.

I never tried the cage 4, and I’m kinda glad I didn’t. I wear court ff 2, gel res 8 and the barricade hopefully whenever those return. But the asics are so much better for my feet.

I had exactly the same problem on both sides. Bought on nike.com in January but didn‘t play until May. Sent them some pics of it and without problems, needed to return them and got my money back. The couldn‘t just send me a new pair, had to order it once again. But I even got my 25% code added afterwards...

Curious what you said when you requested a claim? Apparently whatever I said didn’t work. Lol

Sent them the pics, needed to fill out a survey. Told them I used them for max. 26 times during the season (may-mid august). You can see it on the pics that I used them on clay. That may be the reason why they didn‘t come up with the „heavy friction“-excuse...

Man, sorry about this. I bought my first pair about 3 months ago. Love the fit, feel and cushioning. Bought 3 more on a great discount. No issues yet. It’s the lacing through the nylon material that makes me nervous.

I also think Nike tries too hard to be......unique...at the expense of quality and reliability.

I completely agree. I’ve always loved their shoes but this was a huge let down.

Side note, my daughter I’m referring to is named Haylen. [emoji16][emoji851]

Bet it's not your first nike shoe that doesn't last too long. And yet, kids go back and ask for the same model :)
It’s the looks and feel imo. The shoes look great almost no matter what model, compared to many tennis shoes which are just getting out of the bulky lawn mowing shoes era, Nike has been doing it for awhile. However durability on most shoes be damned.

This is categorically untrue. These have all been 100% comparable to the style and perfromance of the Nike Cage/Ballistec/Cage series over the years.

ALL the asics Speeds of the past 6 years.
Asics Gel Res 4 and up
Adidas Feather to the (now) Uber series
New Balance 996 (since v1)

I think these brands(excluding adidas a little) have some time before they start really getting colorways down the way Nike has, maybes it’s the logo but any colorway Nike does is pretty dang good. Even an all white shoe with a black swoosh is pretty good:

I am saying this as a Nike fanboi.... There are plenty of attractive shoes from companies not named Fila, lotto, or Wilson ahaha

I play primarily using the Nike Cages for the last 3 years, and I can honestly say that they've FINALLY made the bottom outsole of the shoe durable. I've always sent in my shoes for the 6-Month Outsole guarantee, as I usually play 3-4x a week. The top of the shoes have historically always been the weak link IMO, more specifically the outside portion of the shoes (pinky toe side). I tend to drag my left foot a lot and this new CAGE ZOOM 4 model has 3 huges holes on top of the shoe that will fail well before the outsole will.

NIKE has beefed up the side protection of the shoes in the new CAGE ZOOM 4, but in all the wrong places for me!

The nike marketing force is strong with you. Respect.

We get a 12 month guarantee here in europe. Even though I needed to return almost every shoes in the last few years due to production issues, it‘s nice to get them replaced every few month... I even had my cage 3 replaced 2 times...

For clay/grass or for hard court?

Over the years Nike have become more fashion aesthetic driven over function, one of the reasons I ditched them many years ago.
