Sorry for the off topic, but we are looking at a move to Orange County from Seattle. I know nothing about the area and our decision must be made in the next ten days. Please email me with any thoughts, opinions or info sources. Thanks.

I love Southern California, and parts of Orange County are wonderful, as Pete said. I live in Ventura County, though, and can't give you any specifics about OC. Except to say the weather is much better there than in Seattle, which is a lovely city if you don't mind a little rain.

But on the plus side, you'll be very close to Indian Wells each year, and to the Los Angeles tournament.

Good luck!

Susan

I live in OC and its a wonderful place with much to offer. The home prices are pretty crazy but if you can afford the rent, there are lots a great and different parts of OC to live in. Send me any specific questions you have.
Regards, Joe

I don't live in OC, but frequent many parts of it and love the area, but because of living costs and other reasons I choose to live in north Sand Diego County. You might have sticker shock when you see the housing prices, but having lived in Seattle, briefly and Socal most of my life I can say that the Socal lifestyle and atmosphere and culture are much different.

I am assuming you meant Orange County, CA.
Ditto what some of the others have said regarding real estate. That's probably the biggest drawback to living here. Orange County is much more than Disneyland and the TV show the OC.
I also lived in the Seattle area (Redondo Beach) in the mid 90's and moved back to Orange County.

I moved from Chino to OC over the summer and started going out with the girl next door. I'm living with a lawyer who was representing me. He's pretty cool. My friend Seth had two girlfriends which was pretty cool.

Thanks everyone. We put in the word that we want the position, now it's up to the interview process. Starting to get pretty excited about the prospects. Already knew about the housing costs and what you get for the money, I'm in that line of work. May be looking some of you all up for a hit in a few months. Thanks.

OC - the armpit of southern california

am i the only person who finds orange county sterile and unappealing? sure communities like newport beach, irvine, and costa mesa are "nice," but i prefer places like venice beach, santa monica, etc. i've lived in both the OC and LA areas and LA is much better IMO. but i guess if you're looking for a nice place to raise your family, it doesn't get much better than OC.
