Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

I had the 60 minute IPA a few times, but I had the pleasure of trying the 90 minute IPA at a wine bar recently. For some reason, I started getting the giggles at the start of my 2nd beer. It was at that point when I looked at the alcohol content of 9%! Delicious beer, but be careful...

its a super duper yummy beer, both the 60 and 90 min

Haven't posted in this thread in a while and wanted to revive it. After a winter/spring of drinking heavy duty beers like Lagunitas Investigation Shutdown and Brown Sugga (Love, love, love them both) and SN Hoptimum, I've been trying to dry out a bit by trying the increasingly popular 'session' beers. I still don't love them, paticularly since they're just as expensive as their higher octane kin, but I'm warming up.

Lagunitas Daytime: Truly a light IPA. Probably the first session IPA I tried and maybe my least favorite, which is a bummer because Lagu is my favorite brewery, by far. Mild hoppiness/fruit/citrus up front that totally washes out on the back side, leaving Kevy less than satisfied. :(

Boont Keebarlin' Pale ale: Part of the Highway 128 session series. Nice hoppiness/bitter bite up front with a little more lingering flavor/fullness on the back end. ABV of 4.5% means I get to drink double! :) Not great but not bad and certainly something I would pick up on a 100 degree day. On a side note, my wife and I stopped by their brewery on our way up to Ft. Bragg a couple of months ago. Truly in the middle of nowhere but a cool/homey laid back, totally solar powered brewery. One of the most beautiful drives in California with a number of famous wineries along the way. We also stopped at Bear Republic (love their Apex DIPA) along the way but nothing beats the destination...North Coast brewing in Bragg with lovely Old Ras and Brother T on nitro and one of the best beers I've had in years...barrel-aged Old Ras for $23/bomber (and it was worth it). This stretch of road is brutal (or heaven) for a beer lover...Lagunitas, Russian River and Bear Republic are within 45 minutes of each other, Boont is an hour past Bear Republic in Healdsburg and North Coast is another hour past Boont in Boontville. :)

Stone Go To IPA: By far my favorite of the session beers. Huge citrus/floral/bitter notes up front, trailing on the the backside. You still know it's a "light" IPA but it's very tasty, satisfying and hits that IPA button on my palate. Pricey at $11/six pack, so why not just buy regular Stone IPA? These are the questions I wrestle with! :)

Cheers and a happy weekend to all! I have a real IPA in my fridge waiting for me...Stone Enjoy By 7/4 and it's fantastic!

Is there a non-alcoholic IPA? A near beer? And how does Orlando Jones thrive in the Great North?

Alaska in the summer is just slightly cooler than here in the winter. I enjoyed getting out of the heat but it sucked losing some fitness.

Just had dinner with my wife.....we had nachos made with my famous "booger" dip (Rotel tomatoes with molten Velveeta cheese) over unsalted nacho chips with "Mexican seasoned" ground beef on top. Had lettuce with olive oil and fresh lemon juice and seasoning and vinegar as a side dish. Washed it all down with a bottle of Sierra Nev. Torpedo Extra IPA and followed with a bottle of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. WOW! Got a full belly of deliciousness and a wonderful beer buzz! All I need now is a nice slow, loving, .........................!!

Dogfish 90 minute is a winner in my book. I started buying it by the case.`
Also have enjoyed Racer5 (Bear Republic) as someone else mentioned.
Another similar tast which is excellent is West Coast IPA (green colored labels).
I agree Lagunitas (standard) IPA is somewhat weak, but I had a Lagunitas Corination Ale the other day on draft, and at 7%, it was actually very very good. Lagunitas Hop Stoopid (despite its name) is also an excellent brew!
I'm into the Belgian style beers myself, but during the warmer/hot summer weather, I tend to go with IPAs.

I also love the Belgians....Ommegang Three Philosophers and the Abbey Ales are both tremendous.

WOW Noticed the beer glass! I am a member at Grand Dunes Tennis Club! Gonna try to get me some of that Mexican Cake from the Westbrook brewery in Charleston when they brew the next batch next Spring! Supposed to be mind boggling!

I'm back!

Long story short, I finally got a blood test and I'm no longer on the inactive list for IPAs. I've been medically cleared! So I had a Lagunitas IPA and Dogfish 90. IPAs taste even more amazing when you have not had them for a few years.

Good for you! Don't worry though, I've been drinking enough for you and me. :)

If you can still find it, Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra has been a recent favorite. It's basically a higher powered/higher alcohol/more hoppy version of Little Sumpin'...maybe like an Imperial Sumpin' Sumpin'. Fantastic stuff.

Also a big fan of the Stone 'Enjoy by' Imperial IPAs. I just bought my first sixer of SN Celebration last week and it's tasty, as always.

I've also become a big fan of Napa Smith Hopageddon Imperial IPA. It's one of the highest, if not the highest, IBU beers I've had. Massive hops/citrus/grapefruit and slightly sweet. Very nice and reminds me a bit of the flavor profile of DF 90 Minute.

Enjoy!

Had some local Orlando Brewing Company Oktoberfest yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of most of their beers but this one was quite tasty.

Had some Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA from Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon in Ohio. Who knew they make great beer in Ohio!

I have one question. Why do they make all these craft microbrew beers waaaaay too bitter. Especially the IPAs.
I don't want drink anything that bitter.

Anything over IBU 20 is unpleasant and not drinkable IMO.

Different tastes, no? Many people I know (including me) love IPAs.

But why do they have to make them so bitter. That is my question. I drank some very nice ales including IPAs that are not bitter at all. Unnecessary excessive bitterns ruins it for me completely. Just can't stand that bitter ugly aftertaste. ughhh.

Happy Thanksgiving to my beer-loving tennis playing internet friends. Tonight I'm giving thanks with leftover Mellow Mushroom pizza washed down with Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA and Jekyll Brewing Hop Dang Diggity. Hop Dang!
