Does anyone know how to do a two piece stringing on a K95 X 16by18 racket. I know it can be done I just wanna make sure I do it right and tie off at the right spots because its normally a one piece. Thanks

So for some reason I find that confusing. So how are the crosses done? From how Im reading it you need to pieces of crosses?

first cross it at 7H (top/head/etc), last cross is at 7T (bottom/throat/etc).

Tie off your crosses at 5H (top/head/etc) and 11 T (bottom/throat/etc).

How are you reading/interpreting it that it is confusing you?

To string your racket two piece you do need two pieces of string each 18' long. You first run in the mains skipping the 7th and 9th grommet holes on the top and bottom on both sides of the racket. Then two main ends will be tied off on grommet hole #8 at the bottom of the racket on both sides.

There are no shared holes on this racket so if you look at the remaining grommet holes there are 36 empty grommet holes, 18 on each side. You will start the cross string using the 7th grommet holes on both sides of the racket at the top. You must tie the top cross at grommet hole #5 at the top of the racket on either side you choose. Then you will use the remaining string to weave a cross through every empty grommet hole until you end at the bottom of the racket in hole #7. Then tie off the crosses at hole 11T.

Here is a picture of how I start the crosses on that racket I just happen to be stringing up two of them now.

Here I have ran in the top four crosses. I am holding the cross that goes into grommet hole #7 with a starting clamp. I will pull tension on all the crosses then tie off the bottom cross and come back up to the top and tie off the top cross. If you do not have a starting clamp. You can use a starting knot to start your crosses.

Hi Irvin,

I don't have a K95 16x18 so I can't verify my thoughts but I find it odd that the main tie off is at 8T.
Wouldn't that mean that 2 strings have to go through a very awkward hole?
Or does the K95 16x18 have extra large grommet holes at 8T?

The reason why I ask is when I try to string my K90, it is almost impossible to get the string through at 8T, which is why I'm guessing the pattern for the K90 says that the main tie off point is 6T.
This would make much more sense to me for the K95 as well.

KSix-One 90 Tour
String Tension : 50-60 lbs.
String Length : 34' (ss: 9'6) or (18' M's and 16' X's)
String Pattern : 16 X 19
Start Main : at Throat. Mains skip 7H, 9H, 7T and 9T. Tie off M's at 6T.
One Piece : Start X's at bottom at 7T. Top X: 7H. Tie off X's at 5H.
Two Piece : Start X's at Top at 7H. Bottom X: 7T. Tie off X's at 5H and 11T.

Sorry, please excuse my noob questions. I'm assuming it is similar since they both have 16 mains.

It's kind of hard to explain but I'll try.

The third last main goes through 6T and comes out as the 2nd last main through 8T.
However, the string hugs one side of the grommet at 6T whereas on 8T it crosses diagonally across the grommet hole.
Like this: ___|\|____

So fitting another string into there seems really hard, whereas fitting it around the the main on 6T would very easy as you can just go side by side with the existing string.

Am I making any sense?

Yes that makes sense. Many of the Wilson rackets skip 7 and 9 with tie offs at 6 and 8. This makes it hard to get the string in 8T I agree. When that happens I tie the main at 8T and try to put the end of the string in 8T before pulling tension on the second to last main which makes it easy but the string has to be longer or you need a starting clamp for a bridge. If you tie off the main at 6T you also have two string covering 7T which causes another problem trying to get the last cross started. Another trick is to use the stiffer string in 8T. If you have something like a poly it is a snap. If you are stringing a soft multi it may be difficult sometimes.
