Anyone ever tried to reduce their grip size...

... without buying a new "pallet", I think the term is called? I was bored today and shaved my nSix-One 95's grip from 4 5/8 to 3 7/8, because i put a layer of lead tape covering most of the handle, a grip of tournagrip, leather grip, then a wilson prosoft OG. Then the real size with everything on will be 4 5/8, hah I wasn't even trying for that. The handle does look a little uneven and my buttcap is huge, but it doesn't really effect me when I'm just taking random air swings in my room.

Anyone here shave their grips to reduce the grip size?

Wow, never gone to that extreme, but I did put 3 OG on my 4 3/8 if that's considered something big. I sadly have not, I should save the door though, it makes such a horrendous sound when I open it.

Done it once myself and had it done professionally once. The first time I did it myself on a spare racquet (APD) and it turned out pretty well. Just never got around to buying a new buttcap.

I didn't want to risk anything on the second time because its my main and favorite racquet (PS95) so I sent it in to Racquetmaxx and they did it for me. Now I'm just waiting for it to come back.

How much do they do it for, and if you just totally want to replace a pallet with a fresh one, is that possible? My friend messed up BIG time and it's all bumpy :\. I told him not to, but he's a stupid boy. I was trying to look for some online.. But there's nothing on sale... Do they not sell those?

Racquetmaxx

It's $30 for pallet changes ($35 for none pallet racquets) plus $5 for a new buttcap if you want them to supply you with one. They have many different ones to choose from including blank ones. Or you could just buy one off TW because it's cheaper anyways.

You will need to send it to them via a reliable and traceable carrier (UPS or FedEx) and that will cost you to ship it. Use your own box or you can have UPS/FedEx do it for you (I think it costs). For me, it was around $7 bucks via FedEx from California to Alabama (where they are located). You also pay for shipping it back (they use UPS).

Go to their site, fill out an order form, print it and send it along with your racquet. One thing you need to know though is that if you are paying by credit card, you have to write out all your information on the form and send it with through the mail. If you are paying by check, you send the check. This could be a problem for some people who aren't comfortable with sending their credit card info through the mail.

You should email them to make sure that your racquet can be re-sized (or if you have any other questions). Shouldn't be a big problem for HEAD racquets because the majority of them have pallets but it doesn't hurt to confirm. Their email can be found here

I never tried, I have never goten a racket w/ a grip size bigger than normal, Actually, I did once, but I ended up selling that racket. It'd be a big hassle to try to reduce the grip size. Building it up , however, is much easier.

And for those who want to decrease the gripsize of their racquet but don't use pallets, its $35 for 1 gripsize down (4 1/2 to 4 3/8 ). If you want 2 gripsizes down, its $70.
