Hi guys, I play alot like marat safin and was intersted in getting his racquet ( the flexpoint prestige) . But I heard that he has a dunlop racquet but with the FXP prestige Paintjob. Can anyone give me any information on Marat Safin's racquet? And also how is it customized? ( grip size, lead tape, weight, etc. )

Thank you guys so much for looking at this threat!:D

If you want a more detailed thread on safin and his racquet (well, at least from around a year or so ago) look for a thread by travlrjam where he talks about the "Safin setup."

I doubt that it's changed much if any in the time since that thread, so your best bet is to go on a hunt for it.

I think it usedto be a PC600, but they've at least taken the "collar" (I think that's what it's called) off of his newer sticks if he hasn't switched to something else (which would still be VERY similar to the PC600 I bet).

Closest thing I could find. If you're more interested in the math and such behind it...check out his other topics that have to deal with the pros and their racquets.

and @ the video and your thanks, it's no problem. Just glad to be able to help. I have a lot of time on my hands right now because I'm recovering from arm surgery, so I want to do as much good as I can. I can type and write without too much trouble, but I'm not allowed to get the bandage moist which basically means not breaking a sweat. Glad to hear you liked the videos!

*edit* yes PC stands for prestige classic.

Im thinking of getting that Prestige Classic 600 racquet....Hmmm....Im not sure......

haha. I want to get a PC600 also, but for now, I'm stuck with my Liquidmetal Prestige Mid. But, I hear the PC600 has far less power than the Liquidmetal (which I consider a low-powered racquet).

Anyways, even if you do buy a PC600, you should know that Safin's specs are different from the stock PC600 specs. That is simply because Safin's racquets come lighter than the retail ones in order to give him room to customize to his preferences and still maintain a maneuverable weight.

Nowdays, Safin's racquets still come with the plastic collar; however, he wraps his Wilson Pro overgrip to the top of the collar, hence, not being visible.

As far as I know, sometime in the past, Safin also used custom pallets, which come without the plastic collar, but he quickly switched back to the normal Head handles with the collars.

Yeah, I know Marat Safin's racket. I spoke to it the other day.

It said that it lives in constant fear of it's life.

I dunno if he uses the Prestige Classic 600 exclusively now.
With the amount he breaks (compared to the amount Head produces), I'd have thought he has a whole load of Head Prestiges....

If i wanted to get a racquet exactly like his? Can I?
Yes.
Get down to the Wimbledon practice courts tomorrow morning around 10-11am, look for a tall, moody-looking guy, mumbling in Russian with loads of chicks watching from the sidelines.
That'll be Marat Safin.

Go up to him, ask for an autograph....and then ask for one of this racquets.

Let us know how it goes.

You can still buy a Prestige Classic 600 but it wont have the same paint job that Safin has. Safin uses the Prestige Classic 600 with the Paint Job of the Flexpoint Prestige Mid customized to his weight and balance.

You can buy a Prestige Classic 600 here at TW.

Here is what the Prestige Classic 600 looks like undisguised

Still not the same racquet though, Safin's PC600 is noticibly lighter from what I've heard.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

Safin uses the Prestige Classic 600 with the Paint Job of the Flexpoint Prestige Mid customized to his weight and balance.

However the composition of high modulus graphite and high modulus Twaron is the same as the Prestige Classic 600 being sold.
