I can't seem to see if he's still around. He'd cut out his dead Lux, PL2 or Tour Bite and then re-sell the dead string. Strangely, people did end up buying it because it was so cheap. Anyone seen any activity from him lately?

I'm always happy when there's a Crap-Tec joke to be had. :-D

But getting back to the orginal question, I got chatting to him over the internet. He comes across as one of these free spirited, 'crazy, surfer dude' types (though I mean that in the nicest way), travelling the country, in a different place every week, living on a shoestring, plays a ton of open tourneys whenever he can, offers stringing services at each tourney to fund the travelling / accomodation expenses / entry costs (he goes around with a stringing machine in the back of his VW camper van). He comes across as one of those 'live for today / seize the day / worry about tomorrow, tomorrow' type characters.

Although I don't agree that playing with used polys is a good idea - I think its bad for your arm and it never plays as well as fresh poly- he harvests them, and sells them on the bay to fund his travelling and accomodation expenses which are significant when you're travelling across the country from tourney to tourney. So although I don't agree with it, I understand why he does it.

He's a good player - almost certainly better than the vast majority of the people here, and he does have a couple of ATP points, though by true Tour standards he'd be a journeyman. I have to say that I do admire and respect the graft that he puts in in terms of his commitment to playing and travelling. As as 'player' and someone who's genuinely dedicated to the game, the guy's legit.

I bought a few sets of used Solinco Tour bite from him just to see what the hype was all about, the strings arrived to me nicely wound up but the strings itself were kind of in a bad-good condition. There were racquet stencil ink marks on the strings, a few notches(small) here and there, the texture on the tour bite was slightly rubbed off. All in all I only spent about $7 and strung about 10 of my racquets with the stuff, played alright and didn't feel all that dead to me. However I did hybrid it in the mains, with OGSM in the crosses, so that could have affected the playability on it.

Some things (like this info) are better kept secret.:shock::shock:

I did not realise that there was an active market for this. I have some used RPM prototype I could sell, if I can fish it out of the rubbish bin. I have a bunch of pieces I could put up potentially, although those are all under 1' in length:( Please email my username with your highest bid - hurry up, because I doubt these will last.

I'm trying to offend the seller on the bay or anything, but I don't think many people will buy those strings.

1. Yes this is Sergeant Doakes from Dexter, on top of a pikachu body.
2. I couldn't think of another creative username and since I love meat, why not? :)
