Almost looks similar to a PS 85 but no PWS but appears to have a 16x18 string pattern. Also appears he used it in a Wimbledon match.

Could it be a Donnay Pro Cynetic 1? Almost same mold as the PS 85 but without the PWS. However, it has a 16x19 string pattern and 8 mains through the throat bridge. But maybe I counted the string pattern wrong in the racquet in McEnroe's hands?

Really. I always missed the Lendl Adidas shoes. Finally got them last year and although I still love the way they look, the comfort is terrible compared to the modern shoe. I would not be able to play more than 10 minutes in those. I remember when I used to play for hours in those in the 80s.I want those Air Trainer 1s.

Yup, same here. Those Adidas Lendl shoes with the multi-blue stripes and the really soft leather were SO comfortable. But probably not much support compared to modern tennis shoes.Really. Correct. Was a project by then coach/friend Carlos Goffi. I recall speaking to him about the frame in Miami around 1991. Patrick was using as well. Was a Prostaff knock off but never took off. Not sure what company made it for him...
Thanks. Interesting.I remember it had something to do with Carlos Goffi and there was talk Nike was going to market the racquets but it never came to be, And yes Patrick used it to for a short time before playing with his Fischer Vacuum Pro mid

Nike was in the racquet business before! I don't recall which decade but it 80s or 90s era! They did not get top tour player endorsement but just try to see the based on the Nike brand name!Wonder if/when Nike will actually get into the racquet biz. Just a matter of time...

McEnroe started out his with the Wilson Prostaff wood racquet. And moved on to the Dunlop Maxply and then the 200G composite racquet until he retired from the tour! He did have the McEnroe Autograph Dunlop that he play with on the Champion's tour for several years and then a blacked out racquet! Have not seem him play this year!
Snauwaert produce in1991 a line of John McEnroe signature frames. The company went bankrupt in 1992 , and the frames wound up in the discount chain Value City. There was a black frame and a gray model.

Can't get that link to work.
It was a racket made for the McEnroe brothers by Carlos Goffi. Can't have been that grey one, the shoulders and throat are flat rather than fluted. Have you got a picture of the Black Snauwaert?

McEnroe’s deal was 1990 and he NEVER actually used a Snauwaert.Snauwaert produce in1991 a line of John McEnroe signature frames. The company went bankrupt in 1992 , and the frames wound up in the discount chain Value City. There was a black frame and a gray model.

It’s not Dunlop and not IMF. It has grommets. It was with Carlos Goffi. Look at my post from the beginning of he thread.@Grafil Injection
Thanks for the larger picture.
That is not like any of the Snauwaert frames with his name on them that I was thinking of.
I wonder if it was a non IMF Dunlop frame

See my post. Was anymore found out about the racket in the OP? The Wimbledon annual shows Mac used it throughout the 1991 tournament. It had deep and sharp-edged grommet channel like a PS85. I wonder if it was a Wilson prototype that went on to become Graf's stick (adding PWS), since I guess it would have been similar weight and flex to the 200G. Mac reverted to the Dunlop for Wimbledon 1992.
Thanks, yes I read your post before bumping. I was asking for further information, like who built it for Mr Goffi. Were you saying that Snauwaert built it or did he have his own fab-shop? It doesn't look much like any other Snauwaert models.See my post.
This racquet looks big by McEnroe's standards who used an 84 head size racquet (Dunlop Max G 200)SNAUWAERT ELLIPSE
Snauwaert had nothing to do with it. Snauwaert never made him a racquet he used. I’m sure it was manufactured in Taiwan by Kunnan Lo. And like I said at the time there was talk of Nike marketing the frame. But none of that came to be and John continued to experiment with different frames but he’d always go back to his faithful Max200GThanks, yes I read your post before bumping. It was 85.This racquet looks big by McEnroe's standards who used an 84 head size racquet (Dunlop Max G 200)
They did but it was compression molded and not injection Molded and McEnroe never ever used it in match.https://www.****.com/itm/163978078939?_ul=PT
It looks like Snauvert made a copy of the Dunlop that McEnroe used
I’ve never seen Evonne use a Snauwaert. John never used a real Snauwaert in a match. The closest was a Snauwaert stencil on his Max200G![]()
Snauwaert + Evonne + John?
Is this Wikipedia page correct? Did Evonne Goolagong ever play with anything other than the Dunlop Maxply Fort, then the 1976 Evonne Dunlop, followed by a metal Dunlop in early 1978? I don’t recall what racket she used in the Final Comeback as a mother of five toddlers, 1981-83? BUT A SNAUWAERT...www.tennisforum.com
Value City had some of the most exotic racquets in that sale. Still own a Donnay Ghost from that sale 30+ yrs ago. Outside of the Mac wearing the checkerboard Nike kit this was his second best . White zinc and thick head band and all . The air trainers just stone cold WORK for every color you throw at it with your tennis apparel . Nike bring back the checkerboard stuff . PleeeeeI’ve never seen Evonne use a Snauwaert. John never used a real Snauwaert in a match. The closest was a Snauwaert stencil on his Max200G
Nike is so stupid. They did a reissue of the OG Mac Attack and then they do a Vapor 11 Mac Attack but no matching checkerboard clothing line to go with it. Nike is just bizarre now and the tennis clothing designs are embarrassing.Outside of the Mac wearing the checkerboard Nike kit this was his second best . White zinc and thick head band and all . Donnay Ghost! That takes me back. The wide-body designers went berserk for a few years! How was that to hit?Value City had some of the most exotic racquets in that sale. Still own a Donnay Ghost from that sale 30+ yrs ago. Saw that racquet one of the Woodys used with 13 gauge string.
Tennis players are not the ones buying the Mac Attack. Mostly just sneakerheads. Nike's clothes are awful quality and style.Nike is so stupid. Really?? I’m a tennis player and I bought 2 Mac Attack and bought the Vapor 11 Mac Attack to play in. You are correct, Nike’s style is awful.Tennis players are not the ones buying the Mac Attack. Mostly just sneakerheads. Nike's clothes are awful quality and style.

Yeah, but you're a rare exception. I'd buy a pair if you could get them normal retail.Really?? I’m a tennis player and I bought 2 Mac Attack and bought the Vapor 11 Mac Attack to play in. You are correct, Nike’s style is awful.
That e b a y seller has many many brand new dunlops from the 80s and 90s. Worth a look. Pretty high prices though. They did but it was compression molded and not injection Molded and McEnroe never ever used it in match.
Recall a 4.5 player had stopped playing for 15-20 yrs was looking for racquets. Told him about Value City racquets. He bought a pr. of Rossignols. Decimated our group. I was a 3.5 playing with three 4.5-5.0 players. Still curious what selection Shottensteins in Columbus, Ohio would have.I purchased rossignol blue f 200’s from value city 1992 3 of them for 45 $
Light IMHO, great pop. Open string pattern which led to too much breakage. Switched to a Wilson Profile 3.0 95 w/18x20 pattern. IMHO great racquet but too many re-strings led to eventual pull-throughs. Still own these racquets from the 80s.Donnay Ghost! That takes me back. The wide-body designers went berserk for a few years! How was that to hit?
It wasn't the strongest frame. My Ghost. cracked in the shaft on a backhand return.Value City had some of the most exotic racquets in that sale. Still own a Donnay Ghost from that sale 30+ yrs ago. Saw that racquet one of the Woodys used with 13 gauge string.
