Anyone pick up a Prince racquet during Labor Day Sale?

Just curious if there are any Prince aficionados out there who have picked up a sale racquet, just because. I have mainly played with Head Radicals over the years, but one of my favorite racquets was a Prince Textreme Tour 100T. I ended up getting a Prince Chrome 100 to add to my racquet collection because I love the cosmetic and the specs seem nice for me. We shall see how it plays. It was really between that one and the Twistpower, but I just thought that one had a weird look to it.

TT100P because I love the feel of my 2015 TT95 but it was too small and too low of twistweight. And I also am liking 18x20 100" rackets right now.

No. I did not but was considering a 107G. I was not happy with my Prince Phantom 100. For some reason, the CTS design throws off my game though I do love the flex.

Instead, to satisfy my inner tennis nerd impulses, I ordered an Artengo TR500 - a graphite and balsa wood composite. Also considered was a Dunlop CX 200 OS. The truth is that I really don't need any more racquets!

@Dartagnan64 can answer this.

For me, the 107G is easier to use with better feel. It does have less power than the PCG/POG.

The 107G is a really good Phantom. It also happens to have a crossbar. Way more forgiving and comfortable and fun to use than the original IMO especially if you are not the hulk. Also since it is slightly lower in SW it can be tuned up with lead for the player who needs the extra SW and works better for the ones who can't handle heavy SWs....

I picked up several.... Been using the TT100P for several years now and still enjoy it. Wanted to branch out and see what I can get out of the Phantom 100x 305 and the new Synergy 98 so I snagged a few frames. Got to figure with Wilson's big price increase other manufacturers may follow soon, these could be the best prices we will see for quite some time.

I got the Vortex 310. This seems to be a polarizing frame with its very unusual string pattern and because it’s generally a little weird, but I’m really digging it so far. The cosmetic is definitely in my wheel house. Perhaps a weakness would be on off-center hits- it can be a bit jarring on those. I’m an OG Prince guy for sure. Currently rocking the Textreme Tour 310 (love) but wanted to give the Vortex a go. It feels similar somehow. I strung it with Diablo multicolored poly @ 46lbs on my constant pull machine. It looks a bit psychedelic to be sure. I usually string Luxilon Alu Rough, but trying all sorts of different strings here lately.

What is the consesus regarding the phantom 107g compared to the standard prince graphite 107?

Not as beefy as the POG so it doesn't have quite the same plow through. But easier to swing, less tiring and every bit as forgiving. More open pattern so it plays well for those with a spin game. Good feel and touch as well and is probably my best "mid court" frame as far as overheads, deep volleys, swinging volleys and half volleys are concerned.

Basically from the baseline I play a heavy topspin game with it and it has plenty of spin and power for that style. Then in doubles I play a more aggressive attacking style where I get in and use the forgiveness and feel of the frame to establish the mid court and put pressure on the opponent.

If I was in the US, I'd have likely ordered a second one with the sale. It's been my go to stick since I purchased it since it does so many things well and is still incredibly arm friendly.

Dartagnan, did you up the swingweight to be comparable to the pog to get more plow through since the 107g is lighter or change up string tensions?

I added 10g to butt cap, 2g at 12. 341g/ 9.5HL/ 326SW. Beast of a doubles racquet.

I added about 4 gm at 12 o’clock and 10 gm at the grip. Got it close to my 93p balance which I really like.

im probably at 340 gm and 330 SW.

Agree it’s a great doubles frame.

Picked up a 290g Textreme Tour, justttttttt in case that I switch to it as a main racquet. I liked it a lot after tail weighting it, but may have found it a tad too stiff. Didn't get a chance to experiment with different strings on it though.

So much promotion by TW on the Vortex yet not much interest on this forum. Crossing my fingers for Prince.

Discontinued I understand! And such a sweet frame! Glad I got in on it though. Sometimes I think about how much $ guys have layed out for their sticks, while I’m kickin their ass with my clearance Beast 98:cry:

Would love something like that paint job on the ‘new’ 2026? Tours; I’ve now put my money on Gaudi’s cathedral being completed first - looks it’s going to be a close run thing.

Interested in what you think of the Artengo TR500.

I was very surprised! It's very different from my Prince Phantom. The TR500 is oversize at 107 sq. inches and slightly head heavy. The factory polyester string job was decent and playable. It had a bit of the nice sound a wood racquet would make when you hit the ball. There was very little vibration and it was very stable with good power. It excelled on flat shots and flat serves which is how I play. The grip was of a quality material and the shape was like the old flat Head handle that is wider at the sides (which I prefer because I have an Eastern forehand grip). I wish the string pattern were a bit more dense to enhance control. It is stiff but it never felt like a board. The sweetspot is sweet so add some spin or the ball will fly. I never had to work hard to generate decent power especially on flat shots. Though the string pattern is open, generating spin is something you consciously have to do; generating slice was a weak point. Overall, a quality frame.

What's the main difference? The feel at impact? Surely a bump in stiffness from 62 to 66 changes more than just the feel.
slightly more firm and muted. but it isnt nearly as muted as most of the other new stuff coming out these days.
