Anyone play with Toroline Caviar poly?

I usually play matches with a VS/HyperG hybrid on a Pure Strike Tour which lasts about 15 hours for me and then breaks or gets too harsh. I asked my stringer to recommend a string that gives as much bite/spin as the HyperG, but is a little less stiff and he suggested the new Toroline Caviar poly. I’ve tried softer strings like Tour Bite Soft in the past and don’t like it as much as Hyper-G which has a crisp feel that I like. Loved ALU Power in a hybrid, but it went dead after 3 matches.

I believe Toroline is a new California company. Does anyone have any experience with this Caviar string which is a 6-sided shaped poly? I found this short thread where a couple of players compare it favorably with HyperG.

Wondering if others have tried it also?

Got their test box a few weeks back, just wrapping up the first set I tried, which is their Super Toro string. Okay feel, slightly muted, not a ton of spin but spin friendly. Problem is tension maintenance. Last ~10 hours before falling way off a full bed HyperG at the same tension at the same time, rotating rackets out. I'll play the Caviar next, full bed, to compare to HyperG.

Tried Caviar, pretty impressive string imo. Very soft and good feel. Maybe a little bit too launchy on flat shots, but it actually responded pretty well when I was going for big topspin shots.

I played with Caviar tonight and had the same experience. Plays soft, but didn't seem to launchy for me. Great bite and spin, this is a really good string. Thinking of buying a couple more sets.

Wait for Black Friday. They *usually* run a 50% off gig.

Thanks for all the comments about Toroline Caviar. I found that the solution to a string that plays like HyperG, but has more comfort is HyperG Soft. So, that has become my string of choice.

Sturgeon fish in the black sea can keep their caviar but I am happy to put Toroline’s on my racquets. Good string with bite, control, predicability and nice feel. Strung it up on a blade pro and very much enjoyed it. Also really good on volleys were you are very confident in its predicability.

Regarding all the fish comments, Toro may refer to the belly meat of the Blue fin tuna, hence the caviar naming? Tuna roe isn't usually called caviar, and seems mostly served in Italy as bottarga, basically the roe cured and salted in the fish's roe pouch.

Yes, very useful, I'll see myself out

Personally I find Caviar feels a bit more pleasantly crisp than HG or HGS. Definitely my favourite. I hybrid it with GW crosses. Really nice set up.

Gets a thumbs up from me

Retired the Black Knight and Strike Force RIP strings. The Black Knight just was at too low tension (TennisTension and RT were reading ~42lbs) and I could feel it. RIP registered at ~45 but I didn't like the string. At least I liked BK when it was fresh from the stringer at ~48lbs. Maybe they'd be better at my preferred tensions.

Had Toroline Caviar (1.24mm) strung up and so far so good. This time I happened to be there for the actual stringing (same stringer, different machine) and the tension was good. 59.0 lbs set on some sort of Gamma electric stringer, and TT registered at ~62lbs and RT 60.8lbs right off the stringer. A little less after a few hours and a short 20 min play sesh interrupted by rain. Excellent spin potential. Not launchy or trampoliney at all. Great control and the few volleys I had were predictable/consistent. It wasn't a problem at all coming from a 4G Soft racquet that is currently at lower tension. I noticed there was less power probably due to the higher tension. I might go down some pounds in tension given the same string and stringing machine but I'd have to see how the tension behaves and if it loosens up at all. It has dropped ~3 pounds to about 59lbs (in TT) after a few hours and barely playing 20 minutes. I will have to give it a few days to see as the 4G Soft racquet had sit in the box for days when it was delivered from Wilson

about 2 hours in, ~20 hours after string, RacquetTune now reads at ~56lbs and TT ~57lbs, so it has lost maybe 4-5 lbs so far from stringing. This string is playing wonderfully and I'm happy with the tension I chose (maybe I'd go 1-2 lbs less) . Zero complaints. Ball was always under control. The only time I remember hitting out was when my racquet angle was facing too high because I couldn't set up in time. I could swing out and the string would help me do what I wanted with the ball, and also the ball wasn't likely to fly further than I wanted if I hit a softer shot. Definitely a contender with 4G/4GS. I think I prefer it more because the spin potential is better, maybe because of the hexagonal vs round shape. I'm getting another racquet back with fresh 4GS today to better compare. It makes me wish I had the Black Knight at a higher tension so I could compare the two more adequately. Pretty comfy string. The quality of the string seems to be on par with that of its packaging, which was easily the nicest packaging I've seen. Might have to get a reel of this Toroline Caviar.

how is it at higher tensions like 54 lbs ? i find that best way to get rid of trampoline effect is to string it slightly higher tension

how does it compare to alu power or alu power rough ? i am going to try the caviar just based on the opinions in here. Somebody mentioned its even better than solinco ? if so, it must be good right ??

I have tried ALU Power 2-3 times and I think I don't like how it doesn't keep tension for me (or maybe I had consistently bad string jobs). I think I can say I prefer 16G Caviar over ALU Power and Rough. I'd still try ALU Power again in the future. I have a racquet with 16G Caviar that was strung at 60lbs (now probably 48-50lbs) a few months ago is still playing well. The 18G I cannot say the same after 2-3 weeks. I just moved so once I find a trusted stringer I'll restring the two Caviar racquets.

Does anyone know where Toroline strings are made?
Yes, Taiwan

I think I like it slightly more than Wasabi now - Wasabi is softer and slightly better snapback/spin, but Caviar has a firmer, crisper, more direct feel that I like a lot.

My kid is currently resting full bed Caviar 16L and the K-pro hybrid (Wasabi/Caviar) and hasnt cut out either one yet, which I interpret as something of an endorsement. I won’t know what he really thinks til he does or does not ask me to buy more.
