I want to know too. Terminator caught my eye today as well.

I feel like even though Phoenix seems perfect for him, I just don't see it being very climatic or interesting. Looks like one of those movies with great acting but no story. Could be wrong.

Can't imagine anyone wanting to wait in line and sit in a crowded noisy theater
to see this. It does not look to be that good.

Roger Ebert only gave it two stars. Thank God Roger is not alive to see this stinker.

Joaquin is an interesting actor to watch but Deniro's cameo performance is cringey. Like he is in an SNL skit.

Go watch Deniro in King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. That is hundred times better than this.

:(

Watched it with my dad. He said its nearly a perfect movie. I didnt like it near as much, but I was still glued to the screen waiting to see what would happen next. Its darker IMO than practically most any comic book movie, and not in the violent, or edgy sense. It tackles some dark subject matter. I think a lot of people could relate/sympathize with the character portrayed in the movie.

I would recommend giving it a watch at the theater. Luckily the theater I watched it in wasnt busy at all. There was only us and one other group.

Just watched it online. One of those movies where the trailer is the best part.
Shamelessly derivative of Taxi Driver, Death Wish, and King of Comedy.
Deniro is just awful and unconvincing playing a talk show host.
Joker shoots Deniro while appearing as a guest on the talk show
:(

Fine acting by Joaqin is wasted on a weak uninteresting plot.

I haven't seen it but I have a bunch of comic book nerds as my fb friends and they hated it. Which just means I will like it. I'm not overly stuck up. Critics just need a reason to btch and moan. I love almost every comic book movie though.

Comic book nerds hating a comic book movie is a pretty good sign for people willing to watch real cinema which makes freakin sense. I am sure the movie will be gooodd.

But do you not suppose it's bit too dark for a comic book?

DC Universe is a lot darker than Marvel. Their villains are more complex and have personalities. Hell, they already popped out a movie about villain teamup (suicide squad). Plus, we all need some dark in our lives you feel me?????

I watch mostly dark movies but I wouldn’t watch Joker. Mostly because I’d like a comic book to be dark but also light and funny. The very idea behind comic books.

These movies are mostly dark.

I'd rather re-watch Sin City. Maybe I pirate the Joker down the line. New movies are largely pure crap. Actors can be decent but subtle art of intelligent story writing and directing has gone down the sewage drain.

I liked it. It was darker and there was one disturbing scene for me personally. But what do you expect from a mentally ill character
who has gone through so much in a crime filled city? It is a must watch for every TTW poster. We all can relate to the Joker.
People keep saying this. What could be so controversial in a movie these days? I mean they have shows about everything now days. Violence and all. They have a show coming on cable about a serial killer and his son.

I mean I don't get it. What is this "disturbing" stuff you talk about?

I already am an uncle. Got a niece and 2 nephs. And you best believe I'm the fun and silly uncle. But I know in which way you meant lol. I don't have the uncle gut or the uncle burps.

Maybe it's a lil early for them to watch movies about killing  when are you getting them their first machete set?

Well there youre getting into spoiler territory. But all I can say is the movie doesnt try to shock, like I think a lot of movies and shows try to do. The movie is uncomfortable, yes. But its not "woo wee head explode haha kill off your favorite character Walking Dead execution style." Everything in the movie has a reason and meaning behind it.

Like I said, I didnt think it was a masterpiece (my dad thought it was) or anything but definitely worth a watch.

A "masterpiece"?! The Joker is so derivative of "Death Wish", "Taxi Driver", "King of Comedy".
It's mediocre at best. Certainly not a masterpiece.

And I did not find the movie excessively violent at all. Lots more violence in Tarantino films. Not understanding all the violence controversy, unless it is being compared to other comic book movies... But this movie is not really a comic book movie. It would have actually worked better as a standalone movie without all the Batman context.
