Anyone tried a Poly / Poly hybrid?

Just wondering if anyone here has tried a hybrid with one poly string on the mains and a different poly string on the crosses?

I was thinking of trying Luxilon BBALU Power 16L mains with Kirschbaum Super Smash Honey 17g crosses. In the past I've really liked the Kirschbaum 17g string (used it in crosses and mains for a number of years) but moved to the Luxilon because it offered me much better durability (Kirschbaum seemed to notched easily for me).

I really like the Luxilon mains and have been trying to find a quality cross string to put in it but can't decide whether I should go with a mono (Gosen OG Sheep Micro Super, Prince Syn. Gut w/Dura, Yonex Tournament 50) or a multi (Yonex Tour Super 850, Yonex Tour Super 880 Ti Soft).

So I was pondering the thoughts of a Luxilon 16L mains / Kirschbaum 17g crosses hybrid and just wondering if anyone had tried anything like it.

Thanks.

BBB, my gut tells me that the characteristics of polys are similar enough that this isn't going to accomplish much, but hey, challenging the conventional wisdom sometimes pays off.

i've done it:)

and Gaines is right. i'm very string-sensitive but it didn't do much. my normal setup is full kirschbaum competition (durability 4-6 hours) before it was full super smash (1.5-2h). i liked SS because it played crispier but in new version (current) of fischer pro#1 it felt too harsh. i tried pro's pro cyber power( -babolat hurricane) in mains and SS in crosses and then cyber power mains and competition crosses but nothing really changed. although you are probably trying to accomplish something different, i wanted a softer feel, so maybe you should try it but don't expect a big difference, it will play like alu and alu will break, also the question is how will it keep tension. too much theory...

I just strung up my Head LM Prestige MP with PolyStar Energy in the mains and Bab Huricane crosses. I was trying to do a full PolyStar but as has happened to me four times, it broke doing the crosses as it pops thru the gromment caps of the Prestige. I had a half set of Huricane and finished it off. THe last time the PolyStar broke I finished it off with Lux ALU. It is a nice feel and "a little" softer than the regular full Lux ALU I usually play with. Doing a ProPlasma Poly tonight.
