Anything close but lighter than PS90?

JoaoN

Hi guys, new user here but long time tennis player. In the recent years i have played with a lot of frames, such as: Head Liquidmetal Radical MP, Flexpoint Radical MP, Wilson BLX 95, Intelligence prestige MP, YOUTEK IG prestige, Babolat Pure Drive Tour, Pure Strike 16x19 and Yonex Vcore pro 97 310g. But my loved racquet is the Pro Staff 90, it is the one i play better with, but sometimes i find too heavy, specially on serves, where i tend to loose a lot of accuracy. Can anyone recomend a lighter racquet (300g-320g) that plays similar to the PS90?

I read good things about the Prince 93P but i can't find it in my country.

Thanks all!

Sorry to tell you this, but nothing plays like a PS90. Trying to find something which does is futile.

You might like the 6.1 Classic reissue - it won't help with the weight but obviously has a bigger headsize.

Replacing the leather grip with something like a babolat skinfeel will shave about 10-12g.

Which country is that? I remember reading posts that Australia didn't have the 93P and people got in touch with TW Europe and TWE shipped the racquet out to Australia.

I would recommend the 93P definitely.

Sorry about my reply in Portuguese, the guy seems to be from my home country.
My answer was PS 95 and PS 90, asian version.
This one, theoretically, seems to fit the bill better, if the option in simply a lighter 90, or the 95 if he wants something even more forgiving than a 90 with some resemblance in terms of general feeling

Yeah, i considered the six one also, but i am afraid the weight won't be much different.

I am from Brazil. It's hard to find anything diferent than Head, Babolat, Wilson or Yonex here.

Thanks, i am actually from Brazil. Thanks for your tips, will read more about this asian PS 90, didn't knew about it.

I have searched everywhere for the same thing, the closest and best IMO is definitely the Prince Phantom 93P.

Volk PB10 Mid is also a valid option IMO.

Angell isn’t even close as the feel and feedback is totally different. Also much more powerful IME. My experience was with the TC95 63rs though, the TC90 might be closer.

Wow, i've really never heard about this. Thanks

319 gramas unstrung PS90, this has got to be the closest thing to what you're looking for.
The down side is the rarity of these racquets. You should keep an eye on the big auction site, on stringforum too, and hope a good condition stick pop up
You can also try to open an "wanted" thread, and see what shows up
Good luck for your quest

93P with synthetic grip to bring the weight down (stock leather is heavy).

String with the thinnest guage in the 40s.

The last iteration of the PS97S played pretty close imo. And as someone mentioned before, the Prince 93P. Both of these have 18 mains but a thin poly plays well in them.

There are some older racquets on the bay like the Wilson Graphite Matrix that play better imo.

Yeah, i considered the six one also, but i am afraid the weight won't be much different.

You can go for the lighter version of the Six One, Six One L (303g), Six One team (289g) and then add weight to them if you need to.

Oi, Joao. As a long term PS85-90 user, I really suggest you look at the VC98. Like you, age finally caught up and using a relatively unforgiving racquet and having to have good The increase in spin and power will alleviate a lot of your fatigue in the 3rd set. At 322g strung. you'll need about 4-5g in the butt to bring the balance back to less than 32cm, like the PS90. The string pattern is more open and thus responsive. You'll need to experiment with strings to get it to your preference. Much of your fatigue is from swinging at near max to get pace and spin. With the VC98, or if you really want to juice up, the VC98+, you won't need to work as hard, especially on serves.
