Well at least if Novak manages to beat Ranoic we will get interesting SF
Read "massacre". Unless Fed somehow recovers _and_ figures out some brilliant way to play Novak on this court. It's a close enough matchup when conditions are in his favour, here everything is to Djoko's advantage. I'd like to believe - and I'll never count him out - but I have zero expectations for the semi. If he is even fit to play it.

I’m not even angry just physically sick and speechless at what has happened to me today I feel like ending it all
So he's gonna lose to Novak again. Big whoop. I have made peace with the idea that Fed will never figure out Djoker before he retires. His GOAThood is pretty much sinked, so what's there to lose?

Life goes on.

Now do the 100 posts from you and other Federer fans that exclusively whine about the back lol

Yeah I’m not sure I’ve ever actually wanted Fed to retire from a match before, but today I’m wondering what the hell he’s still doing out on that court.

For the first time, I was ok to watch the 38 yr old Fed get out of the court after the third set. Really astounding how Fed managed to escape when thinking back to where the match was heading after that third set.

Sorry, but you would rather a player risk injuring themselves more to "earn the love of the fans"? They have different injuries, only they know if they can continue or not. Fed said he could continue, Novak decided he could not. I don't get why it's better to keep playing if you are injuring yourself further.

Btw, withdrawals are no better than retirements.
Of course withdrawals are generally better than retirements. If you have an injury and don’t think you can play bc of injury risk or that your level will be too low to win, you don’t start the match. Depending on the tournament a cancelled match sometimes allows fans to get a refund of their tickets as well. I really think if you can start a match, you can finish a match. Unless you tear your ACL or something like that. You don’t start a match and then retire when you are losing bc you have tennis elbow. Bottomline is that a mid-match retirement, unless it is a serious injury is a selfish and unsportsmanlike move.

its crazy that they've more or less grown up in front of our eyes. iirc they are 10 now. i still remember a very pregnant mirka at wimbledon 2009 wondering how she didnt give birth right then and there and now we got multiple sets of twins, two of which are in double digits. crazy.

lmao nole's son has to be like 4/5 i think he has a daughter who i think is a toddler too.
It’s gotta be exceedingly bizarre to grow up and slowly realize your dad is one of the best in history in a global sport like tennis. Like, even at 10 do they really get it?

I guess the SF will be more one-sided than RG SF last year. I'm fine with that actually, Fed has not played well this tournament and Nole's game has been quite fun to watch.

Resigned to the inevitable, I changed to outdoor gear to take a walk to absorb this loss when Sandgren was leading 5-4 in the fourth set. Changed my clothes, grabbed my wallet, phone and keys, put on my socks and watched Federer staved off 3 matchpoints in that game and 3 more in the tie breaker. I sat with outdoor clothes for the entire match. Happy for the win but he will go down in the next round no matter who he faces. If lesser seeds and unseeded players like Millman, Fucsovics, and Sandgren are troubling him, I don't have any hopes of him winning against Raonic much less against Djoko. Fed fans must be thankful for the win and not expect much this thursday night.

Ranking points for Wimbledon at least.

GOAThood may be gone but 20 Slams is something nobody can take away from him.

This tournament is missing a 4th presence who should be right there with the big 3. I'm talking Andy Murray from 2010-2016 when he was continuously making the SF in Melbourne. It should be Nadal/Murray in the other SF. Sucks that the young gen still aren't delivering. Medvedev and Tsitsipas especially were disappointing. Although Thiem and Zverev are still both in the tournament which is a positive. Zverev seems to be completely under the radar right now despite having reached the QF without dropping a set.

I like to believe whatever air fed has about him that he does try to keep them as grounded as possible. Like i think they are fully aware of who he is but maybe not stats. Though one of the funniest stories is when fed was collecting some award in 2017 at thr end of the year and told the girls they were like but wait isnt rafa no.1 or when he finally won ao 2017, they were like wow this trophy is big enough to eat soup like they crack me up. I love how unbothered they are most times, reading books etc while in the stands. Though lately they do look more into the matches.

£150 on tennis and how much on the other? I'm sure you can easily earn back that money in a couple of days work, it's not a massive amount.

I'm pretty sure Fed fought hard to win because he believes he has a chance in the semis.

Fed saves 7 match points and you’re still negative lol. If 20 hasn’t been enough for you nothing will be .

Why do you torture yourself if you don’t even enjoy it?

There’s more to life than a mythical goat race

Tennys actually won 1 more point than Roger:

Aces - Sandgren 27 / Federer 5
Winners - Sandgren 73 / Federer 44
Unforced errors - Sandgren 53 / Federer 56
Total points won - Sandgren 161 / Federer 160

Roger lost two sets 6-2 and still just a point difference, not bad
