C'mon baby ...?? [Trying to think of a Wolf precursor].
Yessssssss.Going five! This time it’s Wolf that succumbed to some nerves in the TB.
5 2 in the fifth!!!I have a feeling Shelton is going to pull this out
Shelton has double mp on Wolf’s serve. He needs just the first! 6-7 6-2 6-7 7-6 6-2. Never broken!5 2 in the fifth!!!
My telly has rudely shifted us to a mixed doubles match
It’s Tommy Paul in his path. Both of them were tested the hardest in early matches, Shelton winning a decisive STB in 1R while Paul won from down 1-2 in 2R to beat seeded ADF.Haha, liking Shelton's spirit!
Let's go! He has a great chance to go to the SF in his debut.
Wow.Shelton has double mp on Wolf’s serve. He needs just the first! 6-7 6-2 6-7 7-6 6-2. Never broken!
Bob A Goo made Barewrister Paul work hard too. Shelton can recover; he’s 20.Wow.
I was shuttling between this match and the Rublev one. Then they cut this off in the final set to show Sania.
Hope he has enough in the tank against barrister Tommy.
Impressive GF. Decathlete.Bob A Goo made Barewrister Paul work hard too. Shelton can recover; he’s 20.
Wolf grew up inn Srshsville…Cinci.Impressive GF. Decathlete.
I heard most of Wolf's family were all good sportspersons. Aunts uncles etc.
Shelton is not special as he is 20. Alcaraz is special see his results at 19 versus Shelton.I'd rather watch two young Americans with unique and interesting styles in the fourth round than another Djoko or Nadal vs (insert notable next-gen player) matchup. Shelton is special; true tennis fans recognize skill when they see it.
Didn't Mardy Fish also not rise the same way? what about Ryan Harrison?Shelton basically wrote his name in the history books by rising from #560 to live-ranking 65 in a shade over a year. Watch him play and tell me that serve and his other supporting skills won’t take him well past the current ranking.
Inciteful way to judge the future greatness of players.Shelton is not special as he is 20. Alcaraz is special see his results at 19 versus Shelton.
The previous record for a rise from outside the top 500 to inside the top 100 in one season was Jannik Sinner (553 YE 2018 to 78 YE 2019). Shelton went from 573 YE 2021, took half a year off to play NCAA ball and resumed competition within the Challengers in June, won 3 Challengers in a row (finalist 3x earlier) to finish on a 15-match winning streak and gain top 100 at #92.Didn't Mardy Fish also not rise the same way? what about Ryan Harrison?
Point taken, I will wait till this years Indian Wells, US Open before calling him legit. The previous record for a rise from outside the top 500 to inside the top 100 in one season was Jannik Sinner (553 YE 2018 to 78 YE 2019). Shelton went from 573 YE 2021, took half a year off to play NCAA ball and resumed competition within the Challengers in June, won 3 Challengers in a row (finalist 3x earlier) to finish on a 15-match winning streak and gain top 100 at #92.
Neither of your examples ever began a season outside the top 500 and wound up inside top 100 the next season.
Not inciteful, just facts. But in July 2001 he had beaten Sampras at his home court. Has he beaten Nadal or Djokovic yet in a GS? That is a huge difference.Inciteful way to judge the future greatness of players.
Ben is 20.3 years old. In November, 2001, Federer was the identical age and had lost 4 finals and won one 500 in Milan.
Didn’t see yours. Sorry. Must have dropped off page 1 when I scanned the titles.
I already apologized. What more do you want from me? That’s more of an adult reaction than you exhibited when you called me an idiot months ago. Still waiting for you to man up for that one, dude.Maybe you should try using the search bar. It was still on page 1 as of Sunday.
