Great win from Kygrios. The way he is serving and hustling around the court, he very well could win the tournament. Especially if Federer does not make the final. The Australian is very hard to break and he really looks like he is enjoying himself. Glad to see Kygrios finally living up to his potential.

So does the no.2. But he is very likely to have a hellish draw ;)
Yes. Very Hellish draw. Till now he is played some poor Stuff and some Bedene guy. Now he plays Gasquet who sits as high as 29th and then..lo and behold one of some Fuscovic or some Kicker. Wow exactly hellish draw. Must be reminding Fed days of Bagdatis from last decade.

“Why the **** did I play doubles?” he said, at the change of ends, referring to his effort in searing temperatures the previous day. “****ing so ****ed up, so dumb, so, so dumb.”

To rehash the players of Greek background (past and present)

Sampras
Philipoussis
Kokkinakis
Kyrgios (Greek/Malaysian)
Tsitsipas
Bagdhatis
except that, weirdly Tsitsipas is a Greek Greek, like from actual Greece. I didn’t know that was allowed.

Also his mom is Russian

12 year olds do, sure.

@mightyrick - still think Kyrgios has much better groundies than serve?

Yep, I do. Again, to be clear, I never said he had a bad serve -- especially as a single stroke. I went into length about this @Gary Duane , but the reality is that what I define a "great server" as includes the +1 and even sometimes +2 shot. You don't have to agree, but that's what I think. What I will agree with is that Kyrgios hits a lot of aces. He's one of the best at hitting aces. Which is perfectly fine.

But I'm not going to extend that into whether or not he strategically uses his serve to set up +1 and +2 shots -- which is what I think great servers do.

I see far more strategy, skill, variety and creativity in Kyrgios' groundstrokes off both sides. His shots off both sides are devastating. In fact, the guy has so much racquet skill and ability that he sometimes has *too many* choices. The big problem with Kyrgios' ground game is purely mental.

As I also said in previous posts, Kyrgios' problem with the return is directly related to the fact that while he hits a lot of aces... he is not a strategic server and has a very low serve IQ. So as a returner, Kyrgios simply doesn't know where the ball is going a lot of the time and guesses way too much.

I truly believe if he started thinking about the serve in terms of strategic series of two of three shots... that his return of serve would improve immediately. But he just doesn't think that way right now... so he just guesses and stabs.

Had to sleep in the middle of four set! But it was so close, the match! This could scary his upcoming opponents, the way he is playing in tournament! Rafa is already pumped!

I can't imagine trying to return Nick's serve on this court in this kind of heat.

kyrgios ain't winning this match. looks like its going to be federer and nadal winning slams till they are in wheelchair

Oh yeah? If Kyrgios or Dimitrov don't take any slams this year it is true what you said though. I mean seriously, this is getting ridiculous.

Kyrgios is fun to watch play but his brother is annoying, first with his tweets. Ironic his shirts says Quiet Down.

Any clickable link? ;)
I don't mind downloading it even at 12 GBs.
