Who will win?
Nadal of course a huge favourite.. But Stan is one of my favourite players has been since 2010 he never got much recognition would love to see him pull off the upset on Sunday.
Here's to hoping Stan can win and save tennis.
Nadal in 3, Wawrinka will fold like a cookie.
6-2 6-3 6-4
Wawrinka in 3. 6-1 6-0 6-0
Wawa is the favourite here, Nadal is not in good form and is injured. Wawa on the other hand is in his best form and really eager to win!
Nadal in 3
Nadal 7-5 6-1 6-3 end of story hand him the trophy already
Nadal is definitely the favourite and he will probably win but I really hope Stan pulls out the upset.
I saw several of Nadal's fingers literally fly off his hand today - such was the severity of the blisters on his palm. I hope he picked them up so at least someone might be able to glue them back on later.
Also, Nadal will have to play the match on a Segway because he hurt his foot.
Wawrinka is the overwhelming favourite.
Not a fan of either but please show us show better tennis than we saw tonight. If I see one more single-handed backhand error I'm going to break something.
I think Wawrinka will compete harder than Federer at least. Wawrinka is a pure baseliner, he won't be looking to make suicide net approaches.
That said, I think Nadal will win in 4.
I hope Wawa gets a set. That's how I fancy his chances...lol
**** knows Wawrinka's game just like he knows roger's game and if anything goes wrong then he has the moonball plan so only way to stop moonballing is baseline bashing by djoker so its is pretty much decided.
Stan has never beaten Nadal, not even a set. 12-0 in matches. 26-0 in sets. LOL
Wawrinka had better crush everything, lol. But it looks like Pete will have his record passed by two players in less than 12 years.
Maybe a tie break... and who knows Stan could win a set.
Nadal 3-0 or Nadal 3-1.
This slam was decided when Stan got rid of Novak. We are just playing out the matches.
He'll be handing the trophy to nadal once he wins sunday
Stan to win in imagination land.
Contrary to what most people are saying, I think Wawrinka can play a competitive final, at least he currently has the game and the attitude for it.
However, I'd rather had this matchup in an earlier round, a full GS final isn't the best time to test out the new Wawa v14.01, it can be too overwhelming.
It's good for tennis that we will have a new Slam winner. But my prediction that Federer would be the last 1hbh winner of a slam is faulty :/
Wawrinka in straight sets. 6-3 6-3 6-3. Do not be fooled by Nadal's performance in the semis. Federer practically gave him that match with his many UEs. Wawrinka's level of play has been sublime this tournament and there's no reason for him not to carry on playing well in the final. Expect Nadal to be troubled by blisters again, which will eventually cost him the match.
Nadal in 4. Wawrinka will take his first set, but I can't see him taking more than that.
Stan quotes Beckett and Nadal returns with Cervantes. Game set and match to William Tell (in his dreams).
Rafa wins in straights to lift his second AO and complete 2 career slams.
Wawrinka takes a set, that will be job done for him.
Hate to say it but it looks like history favors a straight sets win for Nadal, however if Stan is going to take a set off Nadal, it would be in this tournament, due to the way he is playing, which is amazing.
He really needs to bring his A game to stand a chance.
If Wawrinka wins on Sunday, he will become the only man other than Federer and Djokovic to beat Nadal in a Slam final (Federer did it twice in 2006 and 2007, both times at Wimbledon. Djokovic did it three times, at 2011 Wimbledon, 2011 US Open and 2012 Australian Open). He will become the second Swiss man and third Swiss player to win a Grand Slam in the Open Era (after Federer and Hingis) and will join a very select list of just 7 men on the current tour to have won a Grand Slam title (the others being Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Hewitt and Del Potro).
With Nadal aiming to complete his list of winning at least 2 titles at all 4 Slams and equalling Pete Sampras' record of winning 14 Grand Slam titles, history will be made whoever wins on Sunday.
Djokovic did it three times! 2011 Wimbledon.
One man is in his first slam final, played two tough matches to get there, and hasn't won a single set against his opponent in the past. The other has dropped one set along the way and is looking to match Sampras's tally of 14 slam titles.
Nadal in straights. Anything else would be a shock.
Crikey, of course he did. Amended my post accordingly!
You should've ended with "......but he won't so who cares"
If Stan could beat Novak, he could beat Nadal. Sure, it's unlikely, but there is a chance. Given the history though, I think Nadal has this.
Basically Stan ruined the tournament.
3 quick sets and should be a very low rated final in terms of viewership like Nadal v ferrer. Unless you are a Nadal fan I'm not sure why you would watch. It won't be compelling tennis at all.
Djoko's on the skids at the moment. He ruined the tournament for himself by himself.
It's a sad state of affairs when I'd be shocked if the opponent took the set. And know with certainty that the only way he wins the match is if the other guy gets hurt
Djokovic in 3
Poll options are stupid. I accidentally voted 5 but meant to vote 3.
Nadal in 3.
Stanislas Wawrinka won't know what hit him! Rafa Nadal in straight sets.
Yep, Stan can call on all those sets he has won in the past against Rafa to spur him to victory. Oh wait...
Is that the most one-sided statistic in match-up history going into a slam final? Must be?
If Stan doesn't live up to his performance, he will have robbed us Novak fans from actually having a grand slam final instead of a QF like match this final will turn out to be (hoping it's not the case).
Stan will take a set, and fight another one.
It will be something like 6-4 5-7 7-5 6-3.
Probably. Fed-Sod was something like 22-1in 2009.
Nadal will win but I think it will be more a battle then people think. Wawrinka is playing great this tournament. Djokovic was on fire and I didnt really think anyone would beat him here, Nadal included, but Wawrinka took him down when he was playing great. He had Nadal on his heels much of their WTF match. I see either a straight set win for Nadal with 2 very tight sets or a 4 set battle. Dont think Wawrinka has it in him physically or mentally to win, but he will make it a good confrontation I believe.
Did the exact same thing. But I kinda like it this way, shows very clearly that everyone is favoring Nadal to win in 3.
Really want Wawrinka to win, it would make a nice change for someone else to win a grand slam.
Agreed - Stan is plying super and had some serious shots to trouble. The only thing stopping him is the mental side of the game - he broke that against Djoko so who is to say it won't happen against Nadal.
I think it will be tighter than people thing too.
Nadal in straights. 6-4 7-5 6-2
