It's a tough one to call, neither have reached the AO final before but saying that neither of them had previously reached the AO semi finals before todays matches.

Wawrinka's back hand is sensational, but how much has today's match taken out of him?

Head to head seems to favor Wawrinka, however they've met at the AO once before and Berdych won in 4 sets.

I can't honestly call it.

I really hope it's Wawrinka. Berdych kind of bores me. Neither has much of a shot against Nadal, but if someone else makes it from the other side, it could be interesting (especially Berdych-Federer or Berdych-Murray). Wawrinka has his work cut out for him, though, if he's going to bounce back from this one.

I would love to see Stan in the final because he would be able to beat Dimitrov and could give Murray/Nadal a run for their money. Berdych on the other hand would most likely lose to all 4 possible finallists.

But i dont think he'll lose to Stan. Berdych in 4.

I'm happy with either one winning. I called the two QF matches wrong so I'm not going to bother with this one - will just enjoy the match.

Wawrinka should do it IMO. Both have a couple of days off so I think they'll be fine. From what I saw at the USO, Wawrinka has Berdych's number.

What's the h2h? I was very disappointed to see Stan lose to Berdych convincingly after that epic against djokoviv last year. I think it was davis cup.

I also think Wawrinka is going to do it. I had a feeling he would pull a Gonzalez this year.

When people talk about Boring Ball Bashers, he's the first one that comes to mind.

Sure.. One dimensional ball basher. You people need to wake the f*** up and start following tennis properly. He is actually a very good volleyer (see DC doubles stats). He has it all. Ok maybe not such a unique all court player as Fed but hell who is these days.. Cmon give the guy some credit where it's due. He is pretty versatile for a big guy.

Berdych in 4. Berdych is in great form. Hitting very well. I think the one set he dropped against Ferrer was the only set he dropped in the whole tournaments.

He is absolutely killing the ball right now and taking all the time away from his opponents. As fast as Ferrer is... there is nothing he could do.

Wawrinka has been playing nothing but slow-medium pace ball hitters the whole tournament (Gasquet, Robredo, Djokovic). Average servers. He has had no match-up to prepare him for Berdych. I think Wawrinka is going to be shanking balls all over the place for at least the first set. If not two sets.

I'd love nothing more than Wawrinka to go through to the finals. I just can't see it happening against Berdych right now.

He's a pretty decent doubles player too but he obviously focuses on his singles. Berdych actually moves well for someone his size - you could see that in comparing him to Kevin Anderson and Tommy Robredo this week.

Robredo is 6 inches shorter than Berdych.

Watching the Berdych-Ferrer match right now. Will watch the Djokovic-Wawrinka match afterwards. This looks to be an enjoyable evening.

Stan got more stamina than Berdych, but Berdych got more experience... that's a tough call.

The match will be entertaining, the crowd probably pushing more behind Wawrinka.

I think Stan and Tomas have benefited from subpar efforts from their opponents, but a bad Novak is way better than a bad Ferrer. I'd like to hope Berdych can win this one in 4, but it's probably Waw in 4 or 5.

If Nadal makes the finals, I don't think it will matter

Id like to see Berdych though. He can take Fed out (if Fed does beat Nadal somehow). Stan will just bend over for Fed like he ALWAYS does.

Id like to see Berdych finally win a slam as well. Dude is insanely talented

Novak was not subpar. He played his best and came up short. He had chances to take the match at some point too, don't forget.

Agree.

It would be a better final if Berdych wins.

If Berdych made the final I doubt he'd even win a set. Against Nadal or Federer.

In what parallel universe do you guys see Berdych not choking in a slam final?

It may be a good match in itself but in the overall scheme of things and the end result of the tournament, does the result really matter ?

Whoever makes the final won't take a set off Nadal in the final.

You know it, I know it , everyone knows it.
