If Nadal makes the finals, I don't think it will matter

Id like to see Berdych though. He can take Fed out (if Fed does beat Nadal somehow). Stan will just bend over for Fed like he ALWAYS does.

Id like to see Berdych finally win a slam as well. Dude is insanely talented

But Berdych bends over for Nadal. He is his biggest cheer leader.

Wawrinka will at least provide exciting tennis, no matter who he plays.

Hopefully, Wawrinka goes through. He is the one who beat Novak.

It may be a good match in itself but in the overall scheme of things and the end result of the tournament, does the result really matter ?

Whoever makes the final won't take a set off Nadal in the final.

You know it, I know it , everyone knows it.

Just enjoy the tennis matches dude. You are so engross with Rafa winning that you are sounding more and more miserable with every post. And you are not able to enjoy the actual matches. This is a match b/w Berdych and Wawa, and all you think about is Nadal. You are worse than the most avid Rafa fan dude. Chill.

Don't worry about Rafa winning too much. It is not you he is beating. Sometimes, you sound as bad as Choco, or worse.........

Berdych just does not have the foot-speed and work at certain times!

improvisation is so important nowadays...

Anyone actually watching?

I am, but Stan isn't clobbering yet. He needs to pretend it's:

What do you guys think about Wawrinka's slice backhand. I don't think it looks nearly as solid as his topspin backhand, but he can get some bite on it when he needs to.

I will enjoy the match if it gets interesting enough at some point , thank you.
I pointed out that the result means nothing in the final scheme of things , which is in fact the truth.

And what is wrong with thinking about the winner's opponent in the next round ?

Stop getting all preachy just because your boy has this trophy in the bag.

Not solid but I like the placement. He has brought Berdych forward twice with it going once for a sublime passing shot.

Wawa deserves a slam final at least for taking out the 3 time defending champion. Hope he can close out the Berd in 3 or 4.

Your defense mechanism is awful.
But if that's how you roll, that's your problem. Chill.........

Wawrinka takes 1st set 6-3, this match doesn't have much of an atmosphere yet. Berdych struggling when pulled out wide on his forehand, his lack of movement hindering him.

The longer the rally goes on, the more likely it is Berdych will hit it out.

Wawrinka is playing well, however can he get over the mental block he has when playing Nadal or Federer, it remains to be seen.

Darren Cahill on naming Federer's new racquet:

"Just call it Fed Force One"

I think he pretty much owned everyone on that other Federer new racquet name thread.

He really did.

Honestly, it's a really good name.

Wawrinka's form is in tiptop shape this event. Maybe one shouldn't count him out to win the Open.

Berd is the kind of player who really makes it hard to root for him even if you want to. I don't see him getting to the next level unless he hires a new coach who can help him make a breakthrough.

I wonder what may have happened if he signed on Lendl as his coach.

Burn that H&M contract and he'll be in the next level. Ain't nobody going to have high self-esteem looking like that. :)

Berdych needs to show some emotions. No matter how much aggressive game he has, I find him very boring to watch.

Berdych gets into more of Stan's service games, than the other way round. 30-all, deuce, 15-30 and all that jazz.
It may - or even should - pay off at some point, but so far, Stan has been super clutch, when Berdych got close.
