Hopefully Woz wins this one. Halep is no one being slamless with her ability on Clay. It will be a shock if she can't win FO.

Caro isn't nice ??? I heard she is pretty nice too......

Caroline is too nice for him ;) She's moved on :D

I'm rooting for Halep and her only problem against Kerber had been BP conversion imho: it's not as much that he went for too much on her ROS when she 3 BPs, but she just seemed to have played the ROS carelessly...

I am not sure Halep can ever be forgiven for letting Sharapova win a 2nd French open and for hiring Darren Cahill as her coach.

Therefore, I will root for Wozniacki.

But like I said earlier, it's doubtful that either player can win a slam. Hence, major catastrophe will probably prevent this match from being concluded.

I Just saw the 3rd set by Halep against Kerber.... Amazing insane 3rd set. I have to pick Halep to win the whole thing,,,,There is NO way Halep will lose in the final.... When you come thru a match like that,,,,you feel like you are invincible in the final and usually they are

I'm a pretty big fan of both players and will be happy for either one, both are the players most "deserving" of a slam who doesn't yet have one. That said I'm a bigger Woz fan, GO SWEET CAROLINE!!

I also think Woz wins in straights anyways, I think she's the better hardcourt player.

This is the ultimate test and last hurdle for Halep. Her belief is gonna be huge in this match and will show if she truly has champion mentality. These moments separate the good from the greats.

Based on their past match-ups and styles of play I would say this is on Caroline's racquet. She can tend to play defensively at times but has really stepped it up with her aggression as she now will go for it on returns of second serve and short balls. Both have improved on their first serves and that may be what wins it for them since they both are now getting more free points on first serves. If the nerves come for either one then the first serve will desert them and be their downfall.

I feel that for Caroline to win this and not let her nerves get the better of her she will need to do it in 2 tight sets. If it goes to a third set I think Simona will get the trophy.

Woz will win this, will then say the usual "yadda yadda yadda, Simona you'll win one some day" and then Halep won't win one for the rest of her career and will always be known as the one who came so close but didn't win a Slam.

As for Wozniacki "deserving" it more, she didn't take either of her opponents in those finals to a third set.
Halep, however, took Sharapova to a third when she wasn't favourite and was forced into a third by a peaking Ostapenko.
Halep's path to the final was also more spectacular, and her winning would be a better story.

THUNDERVOLLEY's only reason to support Wozniacki is that she's friends with Serena, and Serena's glow rubs off on her somehow.
Wozniacki's game has improved marginally: go back to those US Open final runs and you'll see plenty of winners (only the serve seems to have improved a little).

Halep's game has changed throughout the years, but negatively in my opinion. She should have developed her counterpunching skills (Kerber style) that transformed defence into attack. Now she's stuck between that style (that she's not as good at) and a Justine Henin style (that she can't reproduce because her shots lack the power), and she ends up winning her matches through pure physicality (this and the serve are the two things that have improved).

Halep will win...

I hope Simona wins but I think Wozniacki is the favorite. She's healthy, she's spent less time on court and she's more mentally tough. She can run Simona down and it'll be bad news given that injured ankle.

I just hope it's not a boring final.

Considering the semi, I belive Halep will win, she looked very mentally tough.
Excellent analysis.... Halep seem to be in the Zone mentally.........like Nothing can stop me kind of thinking......... If she has the same mentality in the final then she will win.

I hope she will have, she deserves the title more than Wozniacki, taking in account how she played this AO and the opponents.

yea but what about all the things Wozniaki has done so far in her career??? all those major finals she was in and didn't win,,, #1 rankings and top 5 rankings for all those years.......Over the entire course of their careers,, Caro has achieved more so far.

Yes, she achieved more over her entire career, but I still want that Halep will win this. Somehow Wozniaki lost me after the Fett match.

Halep already won the tournament after she prevailed against Davis. That was the best match I've seen in awhile, men or women.

Are you sure it isn't that Hulking boyfriend/ fiancée ?????????? I don't like him either.. and from the looks of it ,, her father doesnt' like him either

Not at all if you check the facts.... Aside from the mere title count (27 vs 16) over twice as long time period post-breakthrough, her achievements are not really that impressive compared to Halep.

For example for Woz, out of the 27 titles, only 5 are Premier5/Mandatory and all of them in 2010-11. Until 2017 when she won the WTA Finals, she did not win anything big. Halep has 6 PM/P5 in 4 (full) seasons since she broke through vs 10 seasons for Wozniacki. Halep has 4 consecutive Top5 YE vs 4 total for Wozniacki. Halep never left top 10 since she got in while Woz was in an out after 2011.

Wozniacki was really an "also run" for half of her career, mind you a pretty one with good PR and lots of endorsements, while Halep stayed on top through her tennis and consistently winning (big) tournaments and matches every year.
Woz is really leading by quantity not quality.

I really hope Woz wins it. How can you be #1 and never win a GS is beyond me. Once she wins, then the conversation will stop. As much as I like Halep, I believe she'll have more chances in the future.

Totalll I am talking about Total accomplishements.

Although Halep seems the better player and has looked more convincing to me, I think Wozniacki will win today. She’s been on the verge for long than Halep and it just feels right. Also, I watched some highlights from recent matches they played and regardless of the result, Wozniacki seems to be in complete control of rallies (wierdly). If she can hit with depth, Halep will have a hard time. Length key for both women imo. Attacking the return will also be massive. I like both women, so I’ll be happy either way.

I’m sad I have to work tomorrow and can’t stay up for this. I thought about getting up super early to watch the recording, but considering who’s playing....I’d have to allow 3 hours. I think I probably only could bear to get up at 3:00 for Serena. Still haven’t decided if I will peek in here to read match description or avoid spoilers and watch when I get home. Cheers to you all who will be watching live!
