Hubbie has to be the favorite here,,, Danill has been stinking up the court lately

If HH serves like he did against Djokovic at Wimbledon and mixes up by following some bombs to the net, plus uncharacteristically hits his forehand the way he was doing against Cazaux, he has a good chance of winning. If, on the other hand, he allows himself to be drawn into long rallies, is tentative, gets pushed back further and further, and at some point when Medvedev hits deep, pops up a paceless half-volley forehand, he will get beaten badly. Still I believe on current form it's on Hubi's racquet.

Why is this part in Czech BTW?

HH should be able to win this with how well he is playing, however Meddy usually finds ways to pull out these kinds of matches.

I think HH takes this. He is undefeated in Quarterfinals of Grand Slams, after all. Never even lost a set at this stage. lol

Out of the 4 Quarterfinals this one has the highest probability for an upset. Medvedev hates Hurkacz's game and said it a few times. His only significant win against him was 2-6 7-6 7-6 in Toronto with 8-6 and 7-5 in the tie-breaks, Hurkacz had 3 match points. Last 2 matches weren't close at all, 7-6 6-3 in Miami and 6-1 6-4 in Halle.
Medvedev lost his serve so many times in this tournament, against non-seeded players like Altman Rusuvuuori and Borges. Only easy win was against the ghost of Felix... He is very inconsistent and it can backfire against the best server in the world. He isn't going to break Hurkacz 3 times per set here. He knows 1 break and the set is basically over against someone like HH. And in tie-breaks, it's fifty-fifty.

Plus it will probably be the day match (Zverev/Alcaraz will be the night match). Hot conditions will definitely favor HH here.

A rare event, but I completely agree with your take on this (y)
Btw, Medvedev has been broken 13 times on route to the QFs. That is a stat Hubie will like.

Hurkacz will lose 7-6(4), 6-7(0), 7-6(19), 6-7(0), 6-7(0)
That would make this AO one of the best tournaments in it's history.
This looks like an epic. I enjoyed Isner Anderson semis and if I was watching Isner Mahut in 2010, would have called it an epic.

To me this is most unpredictable of QF as i can see it going either way. My heart says Hurkacz in 4 sets but my head says Daniel finds a way to pull off a really hard fought win.

Shocked to learn today that HH was below 0.500 (10-11) in hard court Slam matches before this AO. How is this possible with that serve?

His serve was good but his fh sucked for a long time. That's why people deride sinner because he lost to Hubbie in Miami that too so meekly.

This serve may carry him on grass but not on hc. I am still not sure he is going to be year end top 10 but a QF to start the year is great.

Medvedev in 4. Hurkacz is a dangerous opponent, but I don't see him taking more than a set here. It will be a match of hard hitting.

The match seems quite dampened. The atmosphere is somewhat flat and dead. Both players must be nervous and are trying not to make mistakes. The match may ignite from 2nd set, where the player who lost the 1st set will try hard and move up a gear.

Low quality match. Doesn't seem like a slam QF. Novak would have obliterated either player in STRAIGHTS.
There's not a lot of energy. Hurcazk is the definition of low energy personality but his game can be exciting when paired with the right opponent. Med can have tons of on-court personality but he's been reserved so far, and his game is much more fun to watch when he's trying to fend off a big hitter. It's picking up a little.

Match is heating up nicely. We’re never gonna get to slugfest level with these two, but they’re both hitting with a little more intent, probing, trying to open up plays, not just the who-misses-first mid-pace middle-of-the-court rallies that we started with.

It is getting better. The most exciting thing early on was Brad Gilbert nearly having a stroke over Med's return position. He couldn't stop talking about it.

Actually hits an incredible return on set point, Medvedev hits the most awkward +1 possible, and still loses a neutral rally anyway.
