Another late implosion by Daniil attempting to get over the line.

Except this time he isn’t playing a rando, this one will cost hit.
I think Hurkacz earned it more than Med choked it. His much improved ground game allows him to compete in big matches like this on hard courts now.

I'm rooting for Med, but that's not why. It's because I'm a tennis junkie and I'll stay up for it and I have an office day tomorrow. Damn. I'm sitting here telling myself to just go to bed. I won't.
Ha, same here. It's 1:15am here and I want to wake up extra early for the Carlitos match but I want to tough it out another hour for this 5th set. Sleep.can wait until the AO ends

Right. I even encouraged others at the beginning of the tournament, saying something along the lines of: "it will all be over in two weeks - it's our burden/obligation as tennis fans." Lol. I guess I can't be a hypocrite and go to bed.

Soon as Hubi goes up 30-0 or up by two in a service game he need to turn the flat first off and go slider into the body + wide all day. Beyond that press the slice even more make him generate all the pace Med looks kind of cooked. Don’t give it to him for the hell of it use it when it matters. Like two-three slices ad cross court trying to get the low 3 quarter-ish slider to the BH, Med gonna have to either make that near BH DTL which is almost impossible given his technique and high part of the net, also if he does he gonna need to really crank that think almost for a winner because if he takes pace off to control it like in typical circumstances Hubi can just rope him over with the FH cross OR he gonna just go back cross with a semi-vulnerable which Hubi is totally abusing right now. Hubi been taking that FH inside in which is deadly, if he wants to crank up the power that’s the place to do it and the variety after the slice sequences is so effective, and I like also the mid-court slice that curves into the alley as well, he came in behind that which was great

It’s a run on sentence but Idgaf to format
Ofc as I took the time to type that he kind of checking out and missing returns but if the dynamic gets back to the place it was my point stands

Am I remember correctly that Hubi had some nervy big matches where he got tight and lost matches or sets he potentially could have won? I didn't realize his Slam record is pretty meh. One SF and this QF. That really surprised me.

More shocking is no slam SFs for Rublev.

Hubi holds at love and asks the question to Med - can you serve it out?
Expect some drama in this game.
