I can just feel it....This slam will always haunt me....

I just wanted to get that off my chest :(
Let's put it this way: if someone had told you two weeks ago that he'd go deep in the tournament you'd have taken it, especially considering it's his first event in four months and that his participation was in question before the draw came out. Anyway I think Nadal has a very good chance of winning it - he's looked like the most in form player of all the quarterfinalists so far.

I know but now I’ve got my hopes up :( Not sure if 2012 or 2014 broke my heart more - probably 2014....Anyway roll on the morning!

I want it as it’s my favourite rivalry. I’m a novak fan but like and respect Rafa! I’d be happy if either one breaks Federers slam record. Want Novak to do it but would be cool if Rafa did it too!
you are generous man, unlike the majority of the toxic fanbase of here.

Why i'm making Nole favourite because he can win ungly even if he's not playing best and will raise his level when he sees Nadal in final.
Not arguing against that at all. Nole is my pick to win as well. Just would not say “no chance” for Rafa.

Wimby was close and that was Nadals worse surface. Granted this is Novak’s best.

After watching Wimby i'm even more convinced that nomatter what Nadal does against Djokovic he's gonna lose

You guys want a Djokovic v Nadal final?
We all know those matches end in only one way.
I think Nadal has to make some significant changes in his game to be able to beat Novak outside of clay.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of them yet. And most likely, it's too late in his career to be able to do that. Nadal always struggles against players who can take the ball early and change direction (Nalbandian, Davydenko, even a red hot Fognini etc etc).

Nadal needs to revamp parts of his game, just as Federer did, to beat his nemesis. A good start would be standing up on the baseline and cutting off angles that Novak creates. And also to tighten up his backhand and hit it flatter.

The story of Nadal vs Novak is that Nadal goes on defensive for most of the match. He retreats back and Djokovic controls the center of the court. So Novak is basically running Rafa side to side all day. Plus Novak's natural forehand cc is spinny and pushes Nadal wide on the backhand, where Nadal cannot do much except throw a defensive return. OR even if Nadal tries to hit it cross court, Novak is there anticipating that shot.

This is key, because Novak's cc spinny forehand (the one which is short and angled) is not a weapon against right handed players. But it does become a weapon against Nadal because Nadal stands too far back and gets dragged off the court and doesn't flatten out his backhand.

No one in the world attacks Nadal's backhand more than Novak does. No other player pushes Nadal on the defense more than Novak does. No other player reads Nadal's serve as Novak does. That is why Djokovic dominates Nadal even if the Serb is not playing his A game. The times when Nadal has beaten Novak in non-clay slams in the UsOpen - the Spaniard has been very offensive, served big and moved very well. Unfortunately as he declines, Nadal is doing none of those things. Which is why his h2h vs Novak looks ugly as he ages..

Anyone who thinks Nadal has this in the bag needs to re-assess their thinking because Djokovic is obviously still the heavy favorite. For me personally, if Nadal makes it to the final and loses, it'll hurt bad. But I'll get over it quick because I'll know he tried his best. As long as he doesn't get injured like in AO14 at least.

Very good point you made regarding Rafa returning from stand. Rafa was doing well against Djokovic in wemi but he retrieved way behind baseline to return serve in 5th set. It seems Rafa doesn't stick to his strategy for whole match.

But he'll lpse same no of finals as Murray. ofcourse he has 1 trophy but that's nothing to boast of when you're as talented as Nadal.
1 title is still infinitely better than zero titles.

You can say Nadal at the AO is like Federer or Djokovic at RG, that would be a much better comparison.
