I'd take whatever Bernie Tomic had to say with a grain of salt. Anyone with some real cred criticizing the Dunlop balls? Dunlop Grand Prix balls are among my favorites. Outside of the US, seems that many are fans of Dunlop Fort balls.

I have had more consistent quality from Dunlop than anyone else and have yet to find one better on clay.

Dunlop makes a quality ball, and Dunlop Fort Clay might be my favourite ball bar none.

We used them recently at our local comp instead of the normal wilsons when they rolled out the AO balls.
They barely lasted the warm up and were like hitting flat fuzzy dead metal lumps after a couple of games.
A few of us ended up with very sore forearms as well, so the dunlops were all binned and back to the wilsons after one week.
They felt nothing like any dunlops I have hit with before.

The commentary on the balls during the hopman cup was fairly scathing.
They kept saying the same thing, only have any real zing a game or two then really fluff up and slow down.
I know the pro's have much better timing than us mugs, but I cant imagine going 5 sets day after day with those lumps without wanting to chop my arm off at the elbow
And I play with a pure aero / rpm blast or flex infinity (funny enough the same strings tomic uses) full poly set up so I am not noted for having any arm sympathy!

Right!? Forte Clay are unmatched by any other balls and are my favorite too. Dunlops have been the fastest balls I have hit on both hard court and clay court and doesn't load up with debris. In other words it doesn't feel like I've been buried in sand after match, like I do using Wilsons and Penn Pros. I do know they are on the lower side of regulation rules, but the thinner wool makes them a faster ball. They act less like a pressureless ball which is great for sea level altitude playing in my opinion. Of all the brand's I've played, I've found Dunlops to be the fastest with my 65# and 70# full poly strung rackets. String tension has a lot to do with it in my opinion as well.

Played with these tonight after grabbing a couple of cans through the Brisbane International. They felt almost dead out of the can and in hand, as in you could almost squish them in your hand like balls after a few hours of playing. Playability was fine - at least you can still generate spin etc with them and they aren't super slick/light like some of the Penn balls I've used. Where Slazenger Hard Court balls are like hyper bouncy rocks and Wilson AO balls are just the right balance of everything - these Dunlop balls just feel like a cheap half-dead out of the can replacement.

Dunlop Fort white balls were my favorite balls when I started playing in the 70's.
I haven't seen Dunlop tennis balls for decades, then.

^True about the penn championship ball. Wilsons are pretty weak, too, even the us ooen ball.
But i like this dunlop (AO 2019), and the penn marathon, and the slaz Wimbledon naturally.

My guess is that you are using a Regular duty version rather than a slower Extra duty version of a Dunlop ball. Regular duty is used for clay and often used for women's events on hard courts. Some Dunlop models, like their Grand Prix balls, are available in XD and Regular duty versions.

Dunlop balls have always been the balls random rec players at a public court outside in the winter would use after stopping by the Walmart for the racquets and balls on the way

Good change from the AO organization. This new ball is light and fast through the air. Does not fluff up like the Penn, Babalot and some Wilson balls.

As long as they dont use the same balls as in 2014. Bad bounce and Rafa flatten them out quick.

Probably because the extra money left from the cheaper balls is allocated for players' prize money increase, to thicken Tomic's wallet.

It's all subjective of course but Tretorn Serie+ are hands down the worst balls I've ever used.

I like my tennis balls to be uncontrollable projectiles of mass destruction thank you very much.
Used to play with it on astroturf all the time. The one time I played a tournament on clay with it was sheer hilarity

Yeah the topspin you can get with them defies physics. But they're so good damn heavy (I call them Tretorn Mini-Boulders+) and leave so much fluff on the court...last night I went ass-up slipping on some of it.
