AO Qualie draw and such (men)

Bernard Tomic plays Jimmy Wang, a guy without a lot of weapons. That should be interesting.
 
How old is Tomic? I thought he was only 15 or so.

His match with Wang could go either way depending on if Wang shows up to play or not.
 
i hope nathan healy gets into the main draw. i spoke to him after his loss against miles armstrong on the second day of the australian open wildcard playoff. he was pretty upset, pretty angry at his serves, was practicing them on an outside court, and we saw him when we were going home, and we called him for an autograph and asked him if he won or not. he was pretty nice and was very willing to have a chat to us and seems like a really nice guy.
 
Ditto the 'nice guy' call for Greg Jones. Had a brief chat to him at the Medibank in Sydney - about the heat, the court surface, etc etc - and seems like he's a genuinely nice guy. Hope he goes well in quallies too....
 
Yeah, I have many reasons to hate the AO qualie draw. Oh well. May the best man (men) win.

Yes, it could go either way. Tomic won 4-6 7-6(15-13) 7-5. He saved several matchpoints in the 2nd set tie-break.

Warburg beat Fleishman 6-2 7-6 and Delic beat Sweeting 6-4 7-5.
 
Good for Amer. Hope he can keep it going. Bummed about Zack, but hope Sam can make the most of this now.
 
OK guys, your favorite player Amer Delic is already thru to the 2nd round with a impressive performance. and Now Kevin Anderson is locked up in death defying struggle with a unknown player. they are in 3rd set.
 
Australian Open qualifying

Bernard Tomic (15 years old?) just beat Yeu-Tzuoo Wang in the
1st round of qualifying. Wang is currently ranked 147. Pretty nice
win. Probably won't make it into the main draw, but impressive
nevertheless.
 
Nope, it seems like he really is 15, according to the wikipedia entry he was born in '92.

Guy looks like he's got a bright future ahead of him if he's beating 150-ranked guys at 15.

I´m surprised Gabashvili, Petzschner, Muller and Moodie lost in 1st round. Waske retired in the 2nd set.
 
Please tell me what those seedings are in the qualifiers. Are they seedings for the qualifiers ? The AO has not released its list of seeded players for the main draw.

(I am new to this whole quaifier business, sorry)

Warburg d. Dolgopolov Jr. 5-7 7-6(5) 14-12. I think he saved 5 matchpoints including a 0-40 at 4-5 in the final set. Epic win to reach the main draw.
Delic and Odesnik won earlier in the day.
 
Jamie Baker wins! Now its Karlovic in the main draw, hope his serve stays in his hotel room!
