Never thought I'd get up at 3AM, and watch this entire match before leaving for work. Scary.

Roddick will put up a better fight because of his serve. But once rallies start, expect more of the same...

Kudos to JMDP for staying in the court till the end, even if it was really embarassing.

He reached the quarters, which is a great result,he has all the future in front of him now.

Weren't people saying Nadal will win AO because he convinvicgly beat a tired/injuried Gonzalez and a 30 year old Haas? Delpo isn't playing well today and it is obvious that Fed is a terrible match-up for him but that doesn't take away from the fact that Fed is playing great today.

They were, I wasn't. And I also didn't say that Fed wasn't playing great. I only think that this match can't send a formidable warning to his next opponents cause bulldozing a guy who's clearly not there is the only option left for a master like Fed. The only message it sends is "Fed's in great form" but he's been there for years and I guess Roddick knows that (what's their h2h?). But I seriously doubt that Roddick will pull a Delpo when it's his time to face Fed.

anyone know what is being said in the on-court interview? will that be posted anywhere?

same here. I would like to know what was said on court. Anybody know?

Thanks in advance.

Otherwise, my oh my that was a beatdown if I've ever seen one. I was actually cheering for del porto by the end...... to win atleast 1 game!!!

And 19th consecutive semifinal! Ridiculous I tell you.

I know, I am just disappointed at his fans, they want him to win but cant over come their own fears and give in. I want to see more optimistic and stronger comments from his fans. Just like he himself is. We get enough negatives and low balling from fans of other players.

and because we get enough negatives and low balling from other fans, you think it's a good idea to start attacking your own right?

I am a Fed fan,and I think that blind optimism is as silly as it gets.A fan can have his doubts,as long as he stays there and supports his favourite in good and in bad.

What happened was Del Potro tried to put up a fight in the first set but I think he got caught full on in the backlash of Roger trying to show himself and everyone else that the Berdych match was the exception rather than the norm. Then when Roger got on a roll, his confidence just got better and better and the shots just kept coming and DP's game went the opposite way.

About argies, I guess he forgot about Cañas already.

Good show by Fed, some of those half-volleys in the 1st set *were* godly. For the rest, well, not much of a match, to be honest. Hitting winners from the center of the court against a sluggish opponent is great, but godly is a bit too much, Simon or Murray would have retrieved a lot of those.

Things were not working for Delpo and he got disheartened all too quickly. Hope he grows a spine and develops more variety in his game so he can put up a fight when his missile launcher is off target.

Anyway good for Roger, hope he takes heart in this victory and comes out guns blazing for the rest of the tournament, he is going to need it and we are going to enjoy it.

woah ! what a whipping :)

poor del potro !

fantastic performance from federer. He needs to keep this up and not get complacent.

P.S. expected federer would come out firing after his previous match, but didn't expect del potro to get humiliated to this extent

Even though it wasn't competitive, it was enjoyable watching Fed play at that level.

It's been awhile since we've seen the Federer Funhouse.

Never been too impressd with Del Potro, as I felt he has been overhyped prematurely. Yes, he had a great half at the end of 2008, and yes he has dramatically improved and deserving of where he is. yes, he is a solid player and has been playing very good tennis down under.

That said, to do this to a top 10 player on the ATP is amazing. fed was quite scary.

Congrats to Fed! I fell asleep midway through the second set sure that he would win in three. Just didn't imagine a total slaughter out there. I've never been for or against Del Potro, but I'm a wee bit sad for him. Hope this will lead to him improving his game.

Fed vs. Roddick, huh? Could be fun.

to quote Vizzini in Princess Bride, "Inconceivable."

merciful Heaven i missed the whole thing.

but. but Delpo. how? double bagel?
losing every serve in a row for 2 sets?
did delpo take a dive?

Pretty much pel potro played into federer's hands. He wasnt taking enough risks to rip a winner down the line and when he did go for it he would miss it.In long rallies he would eventually donate an error to federer or have federer simply rip a winner sooner or later.Fed also gave him a couple of drop shots and really low short balls from the slice which made the poor man get down real down and net the balls. His big serving was neutralised by a chip return so he wasnt really able to do a 1 -2 punch with a big serve.Federer also came to the net on a couple occasions and was able put balls away or drop them short. All in all del potro had no answers at all even a plan b.

I like the way del Potro speaks:

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: "No, I just have a bad day. He's Roger Federer. If you don't be good, you lose. I don't know. I don't have a good day. I play bad, but he do very good everything.

So I lost. Just I lost the match of tennis, and that's it."

It's just tennis. Federer is not god.

Nadal, Roddick and the rest of the world should be worried, Roger is back...

Nadal has always said Federer is the greatest player and said that he knows his #1 would likely not continue. Rafa is an honest and realistic man.

Fortunatey he's been there, done that.

I just saw the SCORE. what happened in that 2nd and 3rd set ???? Delpotro must have been injured pretty bad. what a great guy to go ahead finish the match...so Roger will feel good about himself...

Wow complete destruction. How was the match guys??? I can't stay awake to watch it. The Dokic match went on for ages

roger was basically hitting every shot in every angle, and delpo ran out of ideas and knew it was finished after the 2nd break in the 2nd set. serve on fire, forehand on fire, backhand on fire, amazing touch half-volleys, dropshots, forehand-backhand passing shots, you name it. all of them were used with great success.
