APD Cortex v PDR+ Cortex

I have Pure Drive Roddick Plus Cortex and find that it feels mushy and trampoline like. Is the AeroPro Drive with Cortex firmer? I find the Roddick blows balls everywhere and not that easy to create spin with compared to original Pure Drive. Is the AeroPro Drive better for spin? Also, what about serving? Can you still serve big bombs with the AeroPro Drive?
Thanks

In the PDR+ I am using poly/synthetic hybrid. How do you think the AeroPro Drive Cortex will go with full poly setup?
Thanks

APD is ok. lacks the heft and "plow through" effect of a PDR. Try the PDR standard. It's a completely different racquet. plays nothing like it's xl brother. muchhhhhhhh more control. feels a lot more solid too.

The specific string I'm using is Ashaway Monfire 1.25mm (poly) and Silent Partner Head Spin 1.38mm (Synthetic Gut). I know it sounds cheap, but it played quite nicely in my brother's RDS001 MP.

The extra .5 inches of length on your PDR+ might be why you're spraying balls everywhere because i'm not having any trouble with control with my PDR. Try the PDR instead of the PDR+.

I'd have to say the APDC is more spin oriented because of its lighter weight and it moves quicker through the air resulting in more brushing up against the ball. The racquet is harder to control regarding power and placement but the spin gets almost all of the balls in.

The PDR still provides good spin but not as much as APDC. It's more stable and the control is better with this racquet IMO. And the serving with this racquet is beastly. Although it hurts your arm. Great power overall.

Regarding serves, i'd have to say that PDR is definately better. But, these two racquets have totally different serving capabilities. You have to adjust your serving style to them. That's why i added 1 g of lead to 12, 10, and 2 o clock and counterbalanced them at the handle to make the serving better.

Two great racquets. It just depends on which you like. Demo them both and pick the one you like. I alternate between them depending on the day's condition. Tired = APDC b/c it's lighter, etc....

Oh and you should put full poly setup on your APDC because that's an all spin racquet. You'll find your opponents having much more trouble.

I have a Poly/Gut setup on my PDR. I would go full poly but it just kills your arm with this racquet. The gut on crosses really helps with the tennis elbow and shoulder pain.

Hi TennisFrkJC92

Thanks for your help - that was great! Would you say the APDC drops much speed of serve? How would you compare it to the Yonex racquets which I think do have low serve speed... in particular RQS11, RDS001 MP and RDS002 Tour? Have you tried full PRo Hurricane Tour in the APDC??

Thanks again

I haven't tried any Yonex racquets but the speed drop when you switch from PDR to APDC is noticible. But, if you adjust your serving style to the APDC, you're serve pace will speed up, just maybe not as fast as your serve with PDR.

I didn't try full Pro Hurricane Tour, i tried full Luxilon BB Alu Power which is similar but i prefer it out of the two polys. The spin potential is ridiculous. You can hit as hard as you want and still keep the ball in with topspin. And btw, you should string it at 58+ lbs. I strung mine at 62, but i'm a hard hitter. It does take some toll on your arm though, but IMO the spin you get out of the full poly setup is well worth it.
