I've played with both for a while. Currently using the 2013 & it's way better in every aspect for me
2012
1) great plow through - Especially from the baseline, I felt I could baseline bash all day. This thing feels like I'm slugging with a bat. Didn't have as much pinpoint control as the 18X20 racket's I've used in the past but if I got a short forehand, I could take my time & hit out-right winners with good topspin
2) solid on serves & overheads - Racket crushes serves & overheads with ease without flinching - good stability
3) lacks touch & feel - could not hit great drop shots or drop volleys like I could with my old liquid metal radical or blx blade - had trouble gettin good feel at the net with volleys - has that babolat hollow feel
2013
1) much improved touch & feel - just like the 2012 PD, the touch, feel, & feeback is better - volleys feel much more solid with feedback on each hit. Still can't hit as great a drop shot or volley but maybe with more time I'll get there.
2) less plow through on baseline, serve, & overheads but still good - with the lower swingweight, it's expected but I like this - makes it feel more like a player's racket. I've got to put some effort into my shots & makes me less lazy. With any version of the Pure Drive or Aero Pro, I find that if I start pushing or blocking, my shots are bad - you've got to give it a good swing to get the spin you need to control your shots
Both rackets have good stability & easy access to spin, but I have no problems flattening out my shots for a flatter, penetrating shot. In my experience, these rackets are extremely string & tension sensitive. I wanted give up on this racket so many times but am hitting well now that I've found the right string & tension & I'm leaning toward hanging up my BLX blade 18X20. I've had no elbow issues with this racket & am able to use my ideal setup: a stiffer, crisp, low-powered string like Luxilon 4G or Kirscbaum pro-line X @ 52 lbs helps me tame the power
Hope that helps somewhat
