APD vs APDC vs APD GT

Which one do you like better and why?

I have the 1st APD Plus right now and thinking about getting the GT Plus.

I picked up the APD Plus for $40 used and it's condition is 9.5/10 I l like how it hits so far but wondering if the APD Cortex or APD GT are that much better.

Imo, the APD is the best. I am desperately trying to find 2 but I am out of luck so far. GT plays really stiff and it is kind of head heavy compared to the other two...

I like the original APD quite a lot, and like the APDC quite a bit, too. Personally, I don't love the new GT version. But it comes down to flex, and what you like in a frame. The GT is far stiffer than previous versions, and plays quite differently. The Cortex is the "softest" of the bunch.

I picked this one up because it was almost brand new for $40. I put some Gamma live wire xp in it at 57 lbs and if nothing else it's a good backup racquet.

I took a few racquets out for a demo and liked the Pure Drive Cortex the best.

Pure Drive Cortex - Great all around feel and power
Wilson Kobra Team - Too much pop... couldn't hit through
Wilson Kobra Tour - hated it
Prince O3 Black - felt like I was swinging a light saber with all the noise from the o ports or whatever they are called.

Next I want to demo the Pure Drive Roddick GT Plus and the Aeropro Drive GT Plus and see what I think.

Based on what you said I'll try to demo the APD Cortex too.

Hi,

Anybody tried a full bed of Rip Control (16 gauge) in a powerful, stiff frame like an AeroPro Drive (whatever version)? If so, how was it?

Does it help tame the power of the frame and does it make the frame more arm friendly?

I dunno about the rip 16, but I'm using kevlar for mains and poly for crosses at 55lbs and it's amazingly accurate. The comfort factor could be better, but control and power taming is out of this world! Plus the strings don't move at all.

Next, I might try those hexagon shaped strings, eg hexablades. I have it on my pdgt and they give insane topspin & don't move.

I'm amazed your arm doesn't fall off, stringing such a stiff racket with kevlar and poly.

I'm looking for a string that not only makes the frame feel more comfortable, but also helps me to tame its power (I know topspin is the way to go to tame its power, but I can use any help a string provides). So I suppose Rip Control 16g might be a good string for this frame in this respect. But if anyone has any experiences to share, please do.

Original Aero Pro's were the best by a mile. Sounds silly but to me, not that mant people had them but as soon as the cortex one came out they were everywhere! I had 4 APD and wish I could get a few of them back, quality frames.
