Arches burning while wearing ASO braces

Hey guys I’ve been playing with ASO ankle braces and while I’ve been playing with certain shoes my arches burn and it’s hard to run. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it the shoes or the braces? Has anyone else had this problem?

You’re describing Plantar Fasciitis or PF for short.

Google it. Start stretching the areas. It’s likely caused by more stress on the calves so roll those out and stretch them. Also do the stretch where you simply sit down and pull your toes back with your hand. Use the other hand to massage the bottom of your foot while you go.
 
I get this if I either:
  • Pull the side straps on the braces too tight
  • Have the laces in the mid-foot of my shoe too tight
The method I've arrived at of putting them on now goes:
  1. Put the brace on. I tie the laces tight, then strap the sides but keep them loose. The cuff is undone at this point.
  2. Loosen the laces on my shoe
  3. Put my foot in the shoe. I will now bend my knee forwards over the toe, and tighten the side straps on the brace. I don't go overly tight with the side straps, just snug.
  4. Fasten the cuff.
  5. Tie the shoe laces. I very deliberately do not over-tighten the mid area, but will be tighter towards the top to secure the foot.
I think having the ankle flexed when tightening the straps is probably the key, as it mimics the position when you run. If you tighten them with the leg straight, then when you try to run the straps looping under the foot will put extra pressure there and cause pain the arches.
