ive had it for about a month and a half and i play about three times a week. its my first time using it. the green cover has broken off in my two center strings and i heard a louder ping when i test my racket with my hand. i ask because i have a match tomorrow and would hate for it to pop just before the match.

If you hit hard or with a lot of topspin, you can snap PSG any time. PSG is not a durability string.

Seven weeks at three times a week is close to, even a bit beyond, the playable limit for most solid-core, single-wrap nylon synthetics anyhow. Check the depth of the notches where the crosses and mains meet--around 40% means close to the breaking point.

do you mean that your shock absorber popped out? i can do that with just about any regular absorber that just sits on the strings, but like another poster said, check for bad notching on the mains. if it's only slightly notched you should be fine.

perhaps a backup racquet someday? :)

difficult to tell. my experience is that I can break strings that look fine (very little notching) with a few warm up strokes which is frustrating. other times I have had strings that look on the verge of breaking (outer casing worn and deep notches) lasting for several weeks or hard playing.

my adviice would be to have a spare racquet at least (I have two spares) with you when you are playing. particularly important if it is a match of any kind.

thanks for the advice. hey i notice you got a turbo shark. how's it hitting with that?

really enjoying the turbo shark. used to play with prince precision control 660 (i think an old rafter enorsed racquet). I liked that one so thought i'd stick with prince and got a good deal on the shark which suited my needs at the time. been enjoying it ever since Dec last year.

find i get more power and spin than the 660. slightly less control but not enough to make me inconsistent. finding it a really good racquet. i know prince seems rubbished on this site but i am finding it great. very solid racquet and not too heavy (300g).

the reef shark i got as a gift for someone but they did not like it. similar to the turbo shark so i kept it. not as heavy (285g) but plays much the same.

how did you like your shark? i guess from your signature that it was not heavy enough for you. any comments about it?
