Ok I know this might sound crazy but I am not saying that the women are better athletically than men. I am saying that tennis on the womens side logically would attract the best female athletes in the world bar none. There is no sport with maybe the exception of golf where women can make anywhere near the amount they can in tennis. Men on the other hand have multiple sports in multiple countries where they can make a ton of money so the talent pool is diluted. Thoughts?

Tough question to answer. In America, a very small percentage of the population plays tennis.. The best athletes go into Soccer, Basketball, Football...
If they played tennis.. who knows. Same goes in Europe and South America.. the best athletes play Soccer/Football. Imagine if they played tennis? There would be many Djokovic's, Murray's, Federers, and Nadal's.
As for Women, I would generally say yes, the most athletic women in the world play tennis... So many Eastern European Women (Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Poland, Czech, Slovakia, etc) dominate Tennis in the World..in countries, in Juniors, in pro's.. just all over. They're all very tall, muscular.. great genetics. In my honest opinion, genetically superior to other types of people... and it's the big reason they dominate.

I don't want to get into genetics. Thats just weird land. Brazil probably has the best soccer team in the world right now. They just smoked spain 3-0. I don't think genetics from any particular area have anything to do with eastern european women being good at tennis. They love the sport and they play it more per capita and have a better support system than other areas of the world. Period.

You undermine your original premise that the fewer opportunities for women for making similar wages as professional athletes means that only the very best female athletes will seek out these "scarce" opportunities; but then you attribute the sport's popularity among a certain group to forces internal to that group in which the sport is promoted under relatively greater social pressure. Or what are you saying exactly?
I am saying that tennis attracts in general the best female athletes in the world because it pays the most of any female sport. There are women who play other sports that are great athletes but in general tennis is the money making peak by far for women.

What I wonder is at what time one become a top athlete? After puberty no? But to become a great master of your sport skills, you need to begin to play at a very young age. At this time, nobody knows which kind of body you will have, what is your athletic potential.
So the premise that superior athlete chose the sport they play regarding the incomes potential suggest that these superior athlete could have the same success in any sport they would begin at age 15...no?

women's tennis is a hidden secret. if I had a daughter i'd push her harder than an eastern bloc parent into tennis. I don't understand parents that put their daughters into such difficult activities like Gymnastics etc which makes like zero money compared to tennis. A little kid that put as much time into tennis as gymnastics would be a millionaire in their teens. If you have a daughter, put them in tennis! it's a good risk/reward. There's nothing like that for boys so consider yourselves lucky. Well until people figure it out and more women play and the competition gets higher.

Women's tennis is where the money is, female tennis players are the most famous, best paid and get the most publicity out of ALL FEMALE athletes in the world. Figure skaters, perhaps, like Kim Yuna can make big money but that's rare. The female tennis players so many of them are millionaires. The WTA is definitely the best sport for women to play they can make so much money playing tennis.
