Are there even ATP pros that use stock rackets?

Depends on what you mean with "stock". Stock without any customization in weight and balance? Under the top 100 I can't imagine.
Stock racket only modified in weight and balance? Yes, there are some.

The best (male) player I've seen with a totally stock racket was Denis Istomin from Usbekistan. At the end of 2006 he used a stock FXP Radical MP without any lead. He was closed to th top 200 at this time. Now he is using Tecnifibre rackets and strings as far as I know. Don't know if these rackets are stock, but surely heavier. And he's playing better now.

I think with "stock" he means the same frame we can buy at the shop,no matter if with weight added or not, everyone of us can add a lead tape or a leather grip to fit our feeling.

In this case there are quite a few: Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Hewitt, Roddick, Ferrero, Murray and I'm sure there are many more. In fact I think most players will fit the description.

I agree, many will. Even with the PJs often you can buy the frame underneath still also. That said I don't think that's what is meant here by stock otherwise why bother with the question. Re true stock players I don't know of any. I generally go with Jura on these things as he really knows his stuff

Federer: probably not
Nadal: definitely not
Djokovic: 100 % not
Hewitt: probably yes
Roddick: 100 % not
Ferrero: didn't dee the new one, but probably not (extended length!!!)
Murray: as far as a friend of mine(stringer at Doha) said it's no stock racket

Federer's racket is completely customized, Nadal's is a PJ has no cortex has added weight and Im sure other custom modifications, Djoker's is a mold made to be like his old Head racket that is not available to the public with a PJ, etc, etc, etc

Djokovic's frame does look a bit smaller to me than his NBlade. If he's not using the KBlade Tour, what's he using?

By the way, Jura, I love your posts. It's great to have an inside man here on the boards :)

The guy said that added weight is allowed so Nadal qualifies since he plays with a AeroPro Drive with some weight added. I know that it's painted like an AeroPro Drive Cortex but his real racquet can actualy be bought in a store (where they still have it that is). The same logic goes for the other guys. Fererro's racquet is a POS LB so it is extended in stock form.

Ferrero's now using an Ozone Tour, which is 27" in it's "stock" or "store available" version

"Stock" means to me that it's "makeable" from a stock frame in all parts. You can't create a Nadal-racket from any stock frame - if you are not you are a professional painter.
But if you go on like this: Go to any shop which still sells an old PSC 6.1 and customize it and you can create the racket of nearly all the k6.1 95 pj players. etc., etc.
And Ferreros POG was 28 inches long - wasn't the stock POG LB only 27.5?!

Before his nBlade paint job, he was last seen using the LM Radical with physical Liquidmetal ridges. Whether it's the Tour version, or not, is still debatable.

They all use STOCK RACQUETS and customize and we can customize them just like they do. It would be COST PROHIBITIVE to have a factory make a racquet for 1 player in the world even the #1 or #2.

For eg. Nadal uses a stock APD customized to how he liked and PJed as an APDC. You can add the same weights he does and even get it PJed like he does.

And how do you make a 28 inch racket from a stock 27 inch stick? Ok, it is possible, but it's not the same because the frame doesnt go thorugh until the end when you enlarge the racket. Or how do you get the custom drilled string patterns that some pros use?

This can easily be proven false. Go to top serve tennis . com and check out the SMU racquets, or go on abay and see if Sweet Huice still has the half dozen SMU's he was selling. Not only are the lengths and weights variable but the composition and orientation of the carbon fiber sheets varies, not to mention drill patterns and paint jobs and unavailable molds.

According to the Getty Images, Philipp Kohlschreiber is not using the kBlade, but the pj of it on a 95 sq. inch Wilson frame with PWS, and a dense 18x20 string pattern. I would venture to say he's either using the dense string pattern PS Classic/nCode 95.

what about roddick, is like nadal, you get the PD+ and add some weight to it and yo get the PD+roddick, the only thing you have left to do is get the signature en the frame , and you get the frame that he uses ?

is cortex system so bad that any one of the pros is ussing it ??

I believe racquet customizers like Bosworth or **** can remold the grip for you to make it a longer handle.
But that's differet to a racket which is made extended in the factory because the real frame doesn't come till the end of the racket.

the only deal with hewitt is his says rusty on it. it should be the same racket

This is not entirely correct. While pretty much all of the Babolat racquets team (and some other manufacturers) are using stock racquets that have been customized after production, the same is not true for Wilson or Head pros, among others. Both of those companies, and some others, have "pro rooms" and do custom molds and/or layups for quite a few of their players. So in that sense, some makers DO make a racquet for one (or a few) players.

I'm pretty sure the point of the original post here was to try to differentiate between the players who are using totally custom frames (meaning molds or layups not available to the public) from the ones who are using stock frames (even if they are customizing their racquets after the fact).

i dont know if you guys realise, but pro's rackets are much lighter in their basic state than the ones you can buy in shops. This is done so the overall weight is relatively similar with the individual's preference of weight distribution. If they started with normal stock rackets it, in some cases will add too much weight to the static weight to change the balance to how the individual likes it.

pro division head rackets are at least 50g lighter than shop stock ones

Thanks for responding. Do you believe he's currently using the same racquet under a new paintjob?
I did a search last week and came to the personal conclusion that he is indeed using the same "nblade" frame with the new kBlade pj. Same string pattern and head shape, though the black paint seems to be more slimming for the frame. He's done so well with the frame, and I don't think he switched at all.

EVERYBODY says that Juan Carlos played with POG...

I'm sorry that I can't post pictures, I would have shown you the BIG difference between POG and Triple Threat Graphite.

I've seen him playing when I played at Equelite (his academy) in 2004, so I know what stick he was using.
His trainer told me about his racquet also, and the fact that Prince was trying to convince him to switch to a stick made only for him, and all top Prince players, to use a different stick.

What I would like to know is what stick he USES NOW.

I mean, it's a customized Prince Ozone Tour, or a stock one? From the pictures that I've seen, I can tell only that he put plastic grommets, and not the rubber ones that are installed on the stock racquet.

But I see no lead tape. I don't think he put weight only in the handle...the stick is HL already...who strings his racquets? Anybody from this forum?
