Are there nationals for singles USTA

I am having trouble navigating the USTA website but I was curious if they have those national competitions for singles. I have played with some USTA league guys and I can see on this forum that there are USTA teams but I think I'd prefer to do my own thing. If there are nationals for singles USTA, what is the criteria to qualify?

There are tournaments that are labelled "national" in them, but the only requirement really to play in them is to pay the fee. Of course these are in different parts of the country and you have to be able to travel there.

There are no nationals for singles leagues like there are for team tennis. I am not sure what would be the point of them anyways. If you are only playing singles and don't want to be on a team, just stick to tournaments.

We have a big tournament every fall in NYC. Unfortunately, the foreigners that come to play have been winning it lately.

Why not play local USTA tourneys first? They have the advantage of being cheaper and you can travel to them easily.
I'm on another USTA team this year and honestly find I don't enjoy playing doubles very much, and there are just too many matches. Tourneys are much better.

Some areas are starting to have singles leagues as well. A team match consists of three lines of singles. In our area this league advances to districts but not any further than that. You might see if that's a possibility?
