Are you feeling excited about the future of tennis?

In light of 20 year old Luca Nardi’s victory over world no. 1 Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells, do you think the future of tennis will be in good hands when Djokovic one day hangs up his racket?

Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev, Shapovalov, Rune, Tsitsipas, resurgent Zverev, even guys like Mensik (possibly)… the list of young guns stepping up is truly great to see.

How do you feel about the future of our sport?

I’m excited about the future of Pickleball.

Cool that they’ve got wheelchair tennis, Padel should have gotten the nod before pickleball

LOL!

In addition, Medvedev recently turned 28, Zverev turns 27 next month, Tsitsipas is 25 and a half, and Shapovalov turns 25 next month (and is hopeless). They're not "young" in the way that Sinner, Alcaraz, Rune, Mensik, and Nardi (to consider just the others mentioned by OP) are young, even for someone like me who is expecting many of the current set of players to carry on at a decent level to 32-34.

Are they awarding equal prize money to wheelchair and pickle?

In addition, Medvedev recently turned 28, Zverev turns 26 next month, Tsitsipas is 25 and a half, and Shapovalov turns 25 next month (and is hopeless). Zverev will turn 27 years old next April.
:D

I am not happy at all if Shapovalov and Zverev is the future.
Tsitsipas is a huge disappointment. Rune is injured most of the time.

Excuse me while I curb my enthusiasm.

Perhaps you should follow the sport more closely. The rest of us already know Zverev and Shapovalov are not the future of tennis. Shapovalov definitely.

Tennis may be in A LOT of trouble when Djokovic and Nadal are retired.

im liking the players now : alcarez, sinner, rune, medvedev, rublev, and shelton..
the other players like zverev, tisitsipas, shapovalov, are just nextgen dimitrov's

I’m happy after spending 3 days at IW - young ATP players I watched included Fils, Nardi, Zhang, Jarry, Purcell, Michelson, Paul, Umbert, Cerundolo, Shelton, Musetti, Rune, Ruud etc. along with the older guys. What is striking about the young guys is how many of them can serve 135+ mph.
Zhang Jarry and Purcell young?

Excited about the new blood of those you've mentioned. I'd like to add those of Joao Fonseca, Prizmic, Darwin Blanch or Arthur Fils; and there are a few others at the age of 15 now that are showing a lot of karisma aside the talent. One thing I hope though is that they get to charge the net a lot more often than the current pro brand of players who rally so boringly

He's 18 and for a supposed future ATG he should be playing masters or atleast stop 500 not challengers.
Maybe the birthday celebrations got a bit excessive :p a slower burner than the other ATG’s possibly or just an entertaining future top20 player.

I forgot about some of those guys too, notably Ruud and Shelton. The rest of those guys are promising but I don’t personally think they’ll be dominant forces in the sport one day.

You never know though.

Young players will eventually beat 37 year old Novak. That's life and it is normal. New era will begin. The Big 3 era lasted 20 years. I am not sure another big era will last that long and if it lasts that will be 40 years since Federer emerged followed by Nadal and Novak. I am not sure I will be here by the end of another big era of tennis. Young players should strike now and utilize their chances now immediately because look what happened with so many good talents who couldn't do anything significant in B3 era. Time never waits for anyone.

Not really to be honest, I do like Sinner but not as much as Djokovic, he just seems bland to me , no spark...
Maybe when Djokovic is retired I can focus on him more.

Rune - meh
Ruud - meh bordering on don't like.
Alcaraz - don't like
Shelton - can't stand.
Medvedev - alright, funny at least ...
Zverev - he's ok .. but again, kind of annoying .. .

Shapovalov has NO PART in the future of tennis, he's already passed his prime and gets worse and worse every year.
Tsitsipas has also passed his prime, though he'll remain a Top 20 player.
And Rune won't ever win a slam with that forehand.
So the future is only Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev, and eventually Fonseca.

We have been spoilt with the Big-Three, some of the most formidable players ever all in the same era. Will be very difficult to see that level of tennis that we have seen in the last 20 years.

I just generally have constant interest in tennis... doubt it'll ever change. Always some level of excitement, anticipation, curiosity.

Same. We've been blessed with three of the best players in history more or less at their best for so many years. It will be a little nice when it is over. It will open for up for a new paragraph in tennis.

If a potential Sinner v Alcaraz semi final in Indian Wells is not getting you amped up, time to find a different thing to do.
it is much easier to be excited about tennis players when you are 11 years old than when you are an adult. if i would be 11 i would probably be super excited about it, and one of them would be my hero and the other the villian. but as an adult it is different. i would still watch it, definetely, and probably enjoy it and support one of them, but it is simply not the same as with boris becker vs agassi in 1995, because i am not a kid anymore.
