arm friendly AND spin friendly

I'm looking for a string that is easy on the arm AND good for spin. I have FXP in one frame and multi feel in the other. I get control with the FXP and the multi feel seems pretty arm friendly. I'll try Mantis Comfort SG next. Any other suggestions? (no poly for me) Thanks.

Has anyone tried the Dynamite Soft. There is very little information on it.

Don't go only by RSI ratings when looking at strings. If you want my top comfort multis it would be:

1) Mantis Comfort Synthetic
2) Babolat Xcel
3) Maxim Touch

i had terrible tendonitis a few months ago and had to switch to a soft string and the best two that i played with were Babolat Xcel and Wilson NXT Tour. i personally prefered the NXT tour but both are VERY arm friendly

Another vote for Xcel. As crosses with VS gut mains it allowed me to still practice while my arm healed. I'm back to poly crosses but Xcel offers comfort, control, and power.

I tried Soft 17 and liked it ...must be strung low tension. Color is atrocious, but play is good. Regular dynamite is pretty good too and a little cheaper. None of the dynamites are overly durable however.

Finding a soft, arm friendly string is no problem. Almost any multi will do that. But adding spin to the mix is the kicker. Most soft multi's don't offer much spin by themselves and you have to do it more with technique. I might suggest a multi mains and a copoly cross. Will still feel soft, but give you more spin than all multi.

Other than that, I would try Volkl Gripper and Dunlop Hexy Fiber and maybe Tech's TGV. The more "control" or less powerful multi's will let u get more spin, because you can swing harder/faster and impart more spin that way.

I was about to say the same thing. All those strings mentioned are arm friendly but they are not spin friendly, not even close to the spin offered by a poly.

From the strings that I tried, the best compromise between spin and comfort are Babolat Addiction and Prince Recoil. Addiction will give you the comfort of a typical multi with a lot more spin (but still less than Recoil or polys), and Recoil will give you the spin of a poly with a lot more comfort (but less than Addiction).

Recoil is expensive but you now have me tempted to try it. I'll be trying out Addiction in about a month. Like Jack said, you won't get the spin potential from an arm friendly string that you get from poly but some definitely give you more spin than others.

It's a nice string for controlled power but the spin potential is not as good as the strings I listed previously. If I hit flatter, I could see how this would be my string of choice.

In my experience, spin potential is more technique related than string related.
I couldn't be happier with NRG2 from a comfort point of view. I should have clarified that in my previous post.

try a soft co-poly in tensions under 4o lbs- or best yet nat gut mains with poly cross like 55-45. expensive if you don't string for yourself but spin, longevity, and comfort with this combo.

Don't forget that arm friendly in one frame is less so in another frame.

I've been playing with a PB10 Mid with a stiffness of 59 and EXO3 Tour at 52 or 53. With a healthy arm I cna use poly crosses with these flexy racquets. I doubt that I could take a frame with a stiffness at 70+.

THe MOST spin friendly/comfy combo I've found is Hurricane Feel crosses with VS mains. It's absolutely idiot proof if strung in the low 50s.

Which of those is best for spin?

Xcel gets the most spin. Hopefully you can afford it.

I'm a spin meister so I mostly agree. Some strings do give you a little more spin than others though. NRG2 has medium softness and feels noticeably more stiff than the top 3 comfort multis I listed previously.

Try Polystar Energy at 10% lower tension that multi or natural gut and you will get tons of spin. As for multis, what has been suggested are good as well but the Energy will definitely give you more spin, only downside is signficiant tension loss around 6 to 8 hour mark.

Any natural gut main with spin friendly poly crosses.

Agreed--however it does not have to be a spin master poly like alu rough or any other textured poly as that will aid in eating through the mains. In my opinion what makes the poly cross so good is it totally locks in the gut mains so there is minimal string movement and that is the key to tons of spin and control along with wonderful feel/softness. If money was completly no object than gut mains/poly crosses for 4-6hrs is pure T $$$$:twisted:s The true key is what is pure $$$ for that 6-12+hour mark and beyond

should go check out those global or volley gut. they are much cheaper than NXT and has a lot more spin, and more friendly to the arm. i got some of them at $10 each, beat the multis i've tried, just not very durable.

Mantis Comfort Syn and Dunlop Hex are now on my list to try. MultiFeel is working pretty good but I'm always looking for something a little better. Will not try poly again and I doubt that gut would like the FL weather.

Anyone else tried the Luxilon Savage, comes in lime, black, or white? I'm using the lime in a BLX Team FX @53 and really like the feel and spin.

Those are 2 good choices.

Many use a natural gut/poly hybrid, but I must say that natural gut is probably the best in this area of comfort and spin, however, it is very expensive. The problem with a poly/gut hybrid is that the poly goes dead much earlier than the gut, so many people need to cut out the strings at that point. A gut/syngut hybrid, however, will feel more like natural gut, be more durable, and more affordable. I'm currently using various Pacific guts and my remaining BDE gut with Gosen OGSM crosses. It costs me about 15 dollars per restring, pretty damn cheap for gut-like playability and very good durability.

There are nonpoly's that are meant for spin: Prince Topspin w/Duraflex, Alpha UltraSpin. Wilson had one, but I can't remember the name of it. I'm sure they might add a little extra spin to the ball.
