Hello once again with Secrets rubric in my blog. Today i will show you personal racquet of one of the most underrated players from the finish of XX century - beginning XXI. In my eyes this guy is much better player than his final negative win-loss stats on ATP level - 316-327.

This guy is the only French player in this century to enter TOP-10 both in singles and doubles.

In this century only two frenchmen made it to the final of a Grand Slam. And this guy is one or them.

He is one of only 4 persons in history who was a member of French Davis Cup winning team, and then became the captain of national team it this event.

Nowadays average height of a TOP-10 player is 189 cm. Despite being only 172 cm he produced great results.

At AO-2001 he defeated elite guys to reach the final - Robredo, Federer, Rusedski, Kafelnikov and Grosjean.

In 2006 he won Washington title without losing a set, posting consecutive wins over three guys that reach No 1 position - Hewitt, Safin and Murray.

The same 2006 year he won Marseille title being underdog on bookmakers odds in each of his matches posting wins over Gasquet, Verdasco, Santoro, Nadal and Ancic.

In 2000 at TMS Cincinnati he posted consecutive wins over two No 1 guys - Ferrero and Kafelnikov losing only 11 games in these 2 matches.

In 2000 in Lyon he advanced in consecutive style vs No 1's Agassi and Rafter.

At US Open-2005 he posted consecutive wins over No 1's Ferrero and Murray,

He has tonns of wins vs guys that reached No 1 position in ATP rankings, defeated Federer 3 times (leads Federer at Grand Slams - 2:1), Kafelnikov - 3 times, Agassi, Roddick, Moya - 2 times.
He leads Rafter in H2H - 2:0, Safin - 2:1, Murray - 2:1, Ferrero - 2:1. Also has wins over Nadal, Djokovic, Hewitt.

How the player with such a career finished it with a negative win-loss?!

He achieved all this despite huge problems with his eyes!

Please welcome, Arnaud Clement!

If we talk about his racquets history, he was a true fan of Head TK57 mold using it in various paintjobs, but in extended length. Despite his love for TK57 he was a great experimenter, trying Babolat Pure Drive, Wilson H22 and Prince O3 Tour MP.

He experimented a lot with his specs. From open info even on Talk Tennis we know that he used Babolat with unstrung specs of 314 grams, 31,3 cm balance and 69,9 cm in length. And he used TK57 with unstrung specs of 348 grams, 30,8 cm balance and 70,5 cm in length.

Personal Clement's racquet from my collection is Head TK57 mold in Liquidmetal Prestige paintjob without grip, overgrip and strings. But to make measurements more accurate i put Head Finest Calfskin grip and Tourna overgrip. And unstrung specs are:

Weight - 343 grams,
Swingweight - 329,
Balance - 30,5 cm,
Grip size - 4,
TK57 pallets,
Length - 70,3 cm.

Very cool @Kalugin
One note - there is no such thing as the TK57 mold. The one you are showing is the TK57A mold. Others are TK57E, TK57F and a few in between…all different

Prior to Head using code stickers in the throat, was there any way to tell which PJ’d frame belonged to a particular pro? Other than deduction by grip size or other indicators like that.

Personal unique specs of a particular player are the most reliable and accurate marker.

It was Kralingen. Now it's Kalugin.
I was suprised, cause you are always so precise and accurate in letters and numbers in molds codes etc.
And you are right, there are A, B, E, F, many different letters in TK57 code, but: Clement started to use A-mold when there were no E and F molds yet, which you pointed. And he just stayed with his beloved mold. Not a lot of guys made transfer from A-mold to E or F molds, which you pointed.

Really? Shorter than 172 cm? WOW! Never seen Clement in real life. I've talked to many, many, many players, and know personally many players, and can say you that height of many players is incorrect in official guides. For example, on this photo you can see me with Sharapova. Her official height is 188, my height is around 180. But in real life she is shorter than 188, as I felt.

It is surprising how many of the players have different actual heights!
Thanks for the pics!
david Ferrer was also shorter in actual height.

Thanks for the interesting pictures!
I wonder why there is a difference between official and actual.
Guillermo Coria was also smaller than the official one.
