Article on Federer's "accomplishments"

Man, you'd think Roger kicked that guy's dog or something.....

Clinching #1 in Basel over Neiminen has nothing to do with winning three of the four slams and a handful of Master's series events.....

I think it's good that clinching came in Basel.....more satisfaction that it was solidified on his home turf.

(BTW - I'm not as much of a Federer lover as some people here, but that blog entry is a bit venomous)

Err.. why is the writer a troll?

From what I read, he is pointing out what "Federer haters" are saying to discredit Federer. He is not making any of those claims himself....(at least from what is written in that article)

The article was obviously tongue-in-cheek and made use of various cliches that are floating around tennis these days (like how weak the competition is), but I have to say that I'm sometimes disappointed by Peter Bodo. I think he should slow down, write a little less, and focus on quality. Sometimes he does great stuff, but that was pointless, humorless fluff.

he's apparently making himself look like a jackass and losing credibility (even if he had any to begin with)

I believe it was tongue-in cheek for sure. Just like the trolls here.

They say stuff against Roger knowing they can get a rise out of someone.

Just the tone sounded like he was taking that stance for the sake of the article.

Everyone in the world knows Roger is the best there is atm, even trolls. They just like to get people all riled up.

GOD, the man is just being sarcastic.. Peter Bodo has written lots of articles in praise of Fed.. Why is it that a sense of humor is rare nowadays?

maybe he's ironical ?... that's more probable... but even in this case, the poor guy isn't even so funny.
30 years following tennis for these poor comments ?...... that is a big accomplishment.

Would you guys give him a break? DO you seriously think he would be writing seriously to make some racist remarks about Finland in our politically correct world? Duh... that alone is enough to tell you HE'S JUST HAVING FUN. He, like all people, know Mr. Federer.

It may just be that the reading comprehension of the average uhm..."reader" is so poor these days that they are unable to identify humor in print. Bodo, at the VERY BEGINNING of the article, indicated that this was tongue-in-cheek, but apparently, several people posting in this thread so far missed that.

I think the initial and final lines makes it clear that this is tongue in cheek. i.e.

'So let's journey to the parallel universe inhabited by Federer haters and check out some of the things they are apt to be saying'

'There you have it. You know what they're saying in the parallel universe'.

A lot of articles had been written praising Feds accomplishment. When Feds loses in a tournament, its a news. Feds really dominating the game right now, nothing new to write.

Jesus, guys, READ the whole article. It's satire. So many morons try to downplay Federer's achievements, so Peter Bodo writes a satirical article poking fun at those who cannot accept his achievements for what they are.

Sometimes I wonder about the reading comprehension of this board...

Indeed. Nothing new.

Wow how disappointing on many different levels.

First failure: Bodo's attempt at wit, creating a pretty stupid column that reeks of last minute haste.

Second failure: Half the people in this thread couldnt even pick up Bodo's intentions which were made clear in the very beginning as Phil stated.

Kind of sad.

Peter Bodo seems a little bitter in this article, but at the end of the day what can you do? Sarcasm goes a long way, at least I hope it’s sarcasm.

^^ Did you try to email him or you're just gonna post this in every thread where he posted. This is not HK, relax and be a little bit patient communicating with people in public space.

If you hadn't noticed, he did not give out his email, only a post saying he was selling a racquet. This is the closest way I have of contacting him.
