As a Fed fan, what would you prefer?

I am willing to admit, as most Fed fans here i suppose, that all those RG defeats at the hand of the Bull still sting a little bit. Fed has won more that i could ever have dreamed of, so at the end of the day it`s no big issue. But needless to say if he defeats Nadal tomorrow it will be the greatest victory of his amazing career. Conquering a well playing, even if not prime level, Nadal in his courtyard at 37 is unthinkable even right now hours before the match. If by some miracle he could do it, the sheer amount of effort required may kill his chances for the whole grass season, risking even an injury in the process.

We know how much Fed treasures Wimbledon, and as his fans how much we enjoy seeing him play on grass. So that begs the question, would you trade his chances at Wimbledon this year (perhaps even the rest of the season), probably his last year with chances to win it, for a glorious triumph in 4 or 5 gruelling sets against Nadal to then be completely gassed for the final and be routined by Djokovic or Thiem?

What say you?

No brainer really. Another Wimbledon title easily trump's a RG runner up. He may need another slam as well to stay ahead of the others in the slam count.

Winning Wimbledon >>> making a RG final and losing. Even if he beats Nadal on the way

I think the question is poorly worded. As far as I can tell, the OP is not asking if Fed fans would trade a Wimbledon title for a French Open win over Nadal with a runner-up final result. That would be too easy.

The question should be, if you could (by way of a Faustian bargain or something) get a certain but pyrrhic victory over Nadal at RG that basically knocks him out of contention for Wimbledon, would you do it? Or just let his season play out its natural course?

A win over Nadal would be great, but people would only say Nadal was past his best or injured. Even if not, another slam title, ANY slam title would be worth more than bearing Nadal at RG and losing the final

Fair point. I guess my answer would still be the same though. Federer is actually in a good position to win Wimbledon this year, maybe the second favourite. Throwing that away, and possibly as much as the rest of the season, just for a victory over Nadal only to get routines in the final isn't a good trade for me.

Then again, I'd take trading in Fed's post RG results last year for a victory over Nadal at RG. I just think he might do better this year

Another RG title would mean infinitely more to his legacy than another Wimbledon title. You people are either lying or delusional.

You didn't get it. The OP is asking what we prefer. Beat Rafa and lose to Thiem/Djokovic in the RG final. Second option is winning Wimbledon. Tell me one reason why a runners up be taken instead of a title?

If it's one more RG title v Wimbledon title, then I would certainly take RG title as it adds to Roger's legacy. But I would anyday prefer a Wimbledon title over a runners up plate at RG

Edit: I didn't get the OP right. Now I got it.

He says Roger beat Rafa but he will not beat the finalist. And it will also tire him physically for Wimbledon. No, I don't want it.

I don't think today's match will have effect on Wimbledon. He has weeks to recover
