As a federer fan, how do you feel about 2017?

After seasons like 2013, and 2016 where we thought the worst, also losing 3 majors to a peak Djokovic between 2014-2015, how many of us actually thought winning another major was realistic?
Then he wins the Australian open , the resurgence of the bull and Rafa winning a historic Decima and now federer has a chance to win yet another Wimbledon. I think win or lose on Sunday I am happy to be a federer fan, and I also feel he has a great chance against cilic, as he somehow managed to win him last year when he wasn't 100% and he is playing a lot better this year.

Wasn't it you who said yesterday that 10 RG titles are nothing and Federer's 11 Wimbledon finals are greater achievement?

2017 has certainly been a year of vindication. Let's just enjoy it while it lasts. The only certainty in life is that there is no certainty. Let's hope Fed's current resurgence lasts a while, because you never know, it could fade as quickly as it bloomed. Just sayin'...

It's been a dream come true for Federer and his fans. Plus every fan of tennis or sport have to admire what Federer is doing. He is the role model for all. At 35 years old after a long injury lay off to comeback and potentially win 2 slams and a few other tournaments this year is insanely good. No one else could dream of doing it.

Hence why he's the GOAT and there won't be anyone else quite like him. He's elegant and economical style of tennis has served him well over his long career. He looked after himself very well and the guy has won it all and yet still driven for more.

My personal opinion throughout Fed's career, if i could use a metaphor: id relate young Fed (18-21) as kid superman due to struggling to control his abilities, (24-31) as man of steel where hes having fun utilizing his superhuman powers, (33-35) as dark Knight, where he has been through enough battles and carefully plans out his moves and ambushes. Though he has lost his speed to run down balls, i admire his variety and tactical approach towards matches. 2017, i would say is very subtle: you can't really tell where he's gonna hit to, even though hes staying back mostly at the baseline, he can do both cross court or down the line rallies to keep opponents guessing n mixing up serve volleys as surprise tactic, as compare to 2015 and 2016 where its obvious he will serve volley every ball.

It was a shame that his beautiful tennis from when he was with Edberg couldn't quite get him a Major.

Loved Federer's 2017 so far. The guy's playing seemingly with a new lease of life. He's been smart in scheduling plenty of time off and skipping the clay court season too. He's paid his dues to the tour over a long time now at 35, nearly 36. I'd like him to win an 8th Wimbledon tomorrow of course, but it's definitely not a gimme in the final against Cilic, whom a lot of people, including myself, picked out as a real threat before the tournament started. Roger's rightfully the favourite though.

I do think 2017 has been a kind of strange year in some ways. Djokovic and Murray have both been hampered by injury and they look washed out and drained to me. Novak's not been the same since he completed his "Novak Slam" and Andy looks worn out from the effort he put into last year too. They could do with some time off, imho.
I'm glad Rafa has been competing at a high level again this year. I would like some new name to really emerge as a star going forward in the Slams though.
Will be looking forward to the US Open once Wimbledon is over.

I'm so ecstatic about Federer's resurgence! I just might have to eat a sock on Sunday, but 2 majors in a year at 35 will make my month.

On the other hand, my other favorite Djokovic ain't doing so hot.

The Aus Open final victory at his age against a player who owns him h2h makes it a great year regardless of the result tomorrow and what happens during the rest of the year. He still won a slam at an age in the open era when most other previous ATGs were already 2 or more years into retirement.
