As a new member it’s threads like these....

James695

Rookie
As a long time lurker and new joiner eager to join in the discussion and learn from people who clearly know more about tennis than me, it’s really disheartening when other “new users” just fill the forums with troll threads like the couple that have just popped up.

Hard to think my opinions will be even acknowledged if I’m just labelled with these other guys. Just seems a shame when there are so many knowledgeable and interesting views from fans of all players that these forums get dominated by these toxic threads.

Welcome to the forum and just ignore the trolls (if you click on their user names you'll see there is an option to ignore any of their posts). New members and new views are always welcome on here and you'll soon see that the vast majority of us are serious posters who like nothing more than to discuss tennis in all its glorious (and maybe not so glorious) aspects. :)

Acknowledged:)

This thread might look like a scream for attention now lol. But in the middle of a grand slam I’d much rather be hearing what an excellent Djokovic fan like hitman has to say and people’s responses to his opinions, than the forum being dominated by this drivel.

I always get sucked in though. Couldn’t resist responding myself.

I wonder if anyone could tell me how long until your avatar considers you not a new user. Is it a time thing or messages written thing?

You sound like a fedal shared GOAT'ers type. You'll be fine.

You’re good.
It’s the number of messages that ups your ‘level’.

Yeah, don't mind the trolls too much. "Fed FH so overrated hurr durr"

Ignore function is great too. You won't even know they exist.

And welcome.

Hey, welcome and have some fun. I'm new too although I was lurking for a long time before I decided to join.
Fedr, Djokr ;);)

Not necessarily are all new users’ opinions immediately discredited just cause the users happen to be new on this site.

Look at how warmly was @AndyM welcomed.

Took him no time to put himself in the position to be a hot contender for the "most charismatic" award at the end of the year.

No wonder @Sysyphus hates him.

@Sysyphus is a smart bloke and a cogent writer, but what @AndyM brings to the table is just unprecedented. He makes GRMM look like D&D.

I find myself on the precipice of tears whenever I read his writing.

He will receive every vote from me this year in @Hitman 's awards.

I'm reasonably sure it's 50 messages to shed the new user tag. And don't get discouraged by some "new users." We were all new users once, and some new users aren't really new users anyway if you know what I mean. I can tell you're actually new here and not some troll double account.

I’ve lurked for two and a half years. I hope I’ll be the Stanimal of this forum. Arrive to the party late but make an impact!
That thread really was something. Haven't seen so many broken hearts in a long time :-D

Why can I not superlike posts lol

AndyM credibility is the dream but I wanna start small.

As a fellow "newer" user, I approve.

I am a deadly serious poster.

As someone who has been a member here for a long time (13 years and counting), it's threads like the ones you mention that make me less likely to keep coming back, so you're not alone.

Luckily, it's threads like these that give me a bit more hope. Thanks for that, and welcome.

Thank you! These forums are great in general. A lot of fun and have enhanced my tennis watching experience over the last few years.

She's right, you are cheating. You probably think of Fed more than you do her. ;)

well when Fed wins big matches and I do this:

She leaves the rooms.

But my wife doesn't look this good in skirt:

It's 100 posts before you become 'Rookie' and shake the New User label.

And welcome to the forum! Not all New Users are tarred with the same brush. Only the obvious trolls (usually Fed haters)

Actually I have no problem with people like Tsitsipas25Slams. Even if it was riddled with logical fallacies and oversimplifications, his thread about Federer forehand was genuine and well-written.
His comparison to Galileo and Copernicus did seem a bit over the top though, and being banned just adds to his delusion of grandeur. Bad idea.
