Only 19, Ash Cougar ™ a name to remember!

Took Lin Zhu (no slouch) 6-3, 7-6 in the Osaka 2023 final for her first WTA title with relative ease.

I must say, even though it was the first time I watched her play I was mighty impressed by her whole package.
Starting with her poise, quiet demeanor, no-nonsense approach backed up by first class ball-striking.
You could also tell she has good confidence in her game.
I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more from this gal.

Saw her play in person in Austin, she didn't have a great tournament here, but she definitely has the potential. Taylor Dent has been saying she's going to be very very good so that is a promising endorsement.

The same Ash Cougar ™ who first came on my radar screen less than a year ago just took down Vekic in the first round at Cincinatti.
I watched most of the first set but then had to leave.
I was a bit surprised just now to see her match result. Vekic as we know is no slouch!

The gal has clearly got some serious game. Still quite a bit rough around the edges but her upside is huge.
I loved how she was laughing and really enjoying herself in her last doubles matches.

I was a bit surprised just now to see her match result. Vekic as we know is no slouch!

I loved how she was laughing and really enjoying herself in her last doubles matches.

Krueger's gonna be a force. Vekic was flushed. Had an MTO for dizziness. Donna's fitness is not suited for hot US hardcourts in August.

Thia isn't 2021 get with the times. Osaka has been great with the media since she made her return. Also, it's easy to be great with the media when you're the underdog but when you've been on top for a while it can become tiresome. Let her some real winning first and see if she doesn't change

The Cincy Organizers did NOT give a Grand Slam Champion a wild card. The most successful player of the last 6 years next to Iga. It is shocking.
So her attitude is very much fresh in their minds. It is what it is.

Wow I just saw the result of Ash's match today in Guadalajara against Maria.
I watched a couple of games of the first set where she was down 0-2 and then 0-4.
I had pretty much given up on her for today.

She came storming back down 0-5 to take the first set 7-5!
And then won the second 6-2.
Well done Ash!
Maria can be a tricky player, frustrating many.
