Ashley Barty Racket Specs

K1Y

Professional
I have searched all over the internet and I could not find it. It has been a couple of years now so I do not think it matters anymore for her career to get the specs out in public. I think it would be beneficial information for young aspiring players who love to play with touch. The only thing I know is that Barty used to play with a 298 gram racket (unstrung). If you have more information about swingweight and balance please share!

@K1Y - You need to search a bit harder my man!

Per @dr325i, Barty finished here career playing the TGT344.1 -- a typical China-made Gravity Pro pro stock, but with a custom 16x19 drill pattern. I'm unsure of the layup and spec (either unstrung or strung). Perhaps @dr325i can fill us in on either or both, if possible. For strings, she used Hawk Touch mains, gut crosses; gage and tension unknown.

Here's a pic from just after her last point played as a pro, winning the 2022 AO final, this pic showing one of the best angles of both the frame and visible main/cross strings (click to zoom):

The origin of her frame harkens back to the YouTek IG Speed 300, which, although not exactly like her GPro mold/layup, is probably one of the closest ways to replicate her actual spec: Here's the RF profile:

Of course, her actual swing weight is probably a fair bit higher than 308, but otherwise the specs mostly line up.
Hopefully that helps shed some light on things. Nothing revolutionary, but an interesting piece of gear nonetheless, from one of the better women's players in the modern game.

Awesome man! On tension: I know Skipp mentioned here somewhere that she played 19/20 kg tension when she was still using full poly.

Head was not customizing her frames.
However, her unstrung spec was: Static weight 322g (with OG), SW = 300kg*cm2, balance 315mm
Thank you!! Were these measurements done with her frame you have? I remember Roman Prokes said in the craig shapiro tennis podcast that Barty her unstrung racket weighs under 300g. That is quite a big difference for static weight. 322 static would match with Prokes his quote if its strung weight?

322g unstrung but with overgrip so depending on overgrip type and overlap it can be 316-318g unstrung.

@Automatix Thanks for thinking along! Yeah I understand what the doctor is saying. But even if you subtract the ~6gr of the overgrip, it still doesn't align with what Roman Prokes has said: 298gr unstrung without OG. What do you do when two legends give different info?

Sorry! Assumed that you didn't notice.
I don't recall the podcast you're referencing but a couple of ideas:
- prior to customizing;
- different time period e.g. changed her setup along the way.

My bad, was looing at the wrong numbers, 298g unstrung WITH tourna looking OG.
315mm balance
300SW

The spec is from the AO stringing room, 2021. Done on some kind of Yonex machine as I can see

Awesome, very nice! Thanks for the correction. Thats an interesting spec, low static and decent low balance for 300 sw with that static. Most mass would have to be on both opposite ends of the racket.

I've had one of her frames before and was not easy to customize it to her spec. Head would send her bare frames and her team would set it up, so, I got one of the bare frames and took me a while to get it to her spec.

Then, I hit with it...only once...and put it away. It was such a weird spec that I could not hit too long with it.

Not Barty’s personal. Her name is inside of the throat on her rackets.
The SpeedX version I had was all glossy, so, I’d expect that she prefers glossy PJ too
As an aside, what determines if they paint the retail model designation at the top of the hoop (ex. MP, Pro, Tour)?
I have a gravity pro stock (bought from the pro herself), seems to be the Tour mold, thicker beam but still 18x20 but it doesn't have the retail model designation and I've always wondered why.

I have two of the Gravity Pro 16/19 with the 2023 PJ. It’s a beautiful frame BUT, the strings start moving very very fast and I have to adjust the strings massively after each and every point already after 30 minutes of play.

Strung SW with a 1.30 mm string is 332

1) there is no specific reason what determines if they have the model or not on them.
2) I have 10 or so of the TGT341.1/341.2 18x20 (gravity tour) and none of them has the model on them.

Cool, thanks.
Mine isn't glossy either, which I guess is just a choice of the player?
