The sole is supposed to be a cross between clay and hardcourt. So I imagine softer than normal HC. That's just info I got on consumer pipeline.

Maybe one of novak's retail shoes might actually be similar to his own shoes. The Barricades were basically like a clay sole; serbs took one of his pairs after a davis cup match

Oh no! They've ruined my favorite shoes with the Novak branding. Gonna have to try out the Court Zoom Zeroes instead now.

I couldn't get the other Djokovic Asic's shoes without the logo. How am I going to get these without it?
? What are you talking about. You could get the gel res 7's as a standard model. It's functionally identical. It just has different colorways. I guess cosmetics are more important to you than performance. Nothing wrong with that, but a lot of players don't care about a logo, or the colorway that much. Also if something really bothers you, there are plenty of guides out there to cheaply, quickly, and easily recolor aspects of shoes.

I have a pair of the gel res 7 novaks, and the logo doesn't bother me at all. Because it's on the heel. The shoe is fantastic, the blue color is fantastic. It has a stupid D on the back, that I will never ever see while playing. And I have to go out of my way to see while wearing. I'm sorry it just seems incredibly silly.

You are right you could get the standard models without the logos. We were talking about the player models. Reading comprehension really is a lost art.

So will there still be a specific clay version, or just a hybrid clay / hardcourt shoe + omni / carpet versions?

Reading comprehension is a lost art? I just said the regular model gel resolution 7 is identical aside from cosmetic from the player model gel resolution 7 novak. You lost me pal. If you want to start insulting me go ahead, not really surprising.

Sorry to butt in but I think you're talking about specific Novak models (colorways), while RanchDressing is talking about the shoe models in general, GR7 or Court FF. Novak models are there only because of him. It's matching gear for his clothes. If you're looking for a GR7 or Court FF, there are several other color options. If you want specifically those Novak is wearing but without his logos, then tough luck, I guess.

I guess you started the insulting first by calling my post “incredibly silly”. Maybe I took it the wrong way, but the discussion was about Pro player models not generic.

I've read Yonex's footwear quality level for sponsored players is the same as their retail collections. So while Wawrinka may have a custom shoe, the tread and materials are the same. I'm curious about Asics; they are the only tennis shoe I can wear as Vapors and everything else have a tendency to jab just under my ankle bone. Are the like Vapors in that tour pros are afforded a custom shoe, some not all, with completely different materials etc?

I don't know about asics pro shoes. I'm curious to see myself.
The person I talked to didn't buy the shoe after-all, said the sole was hard? Whatever that means, I think that would be very difficult to judge without playing on court, but did mention they were way way lighter than the GR7's. So we will see. I'll just wait to see what people find.

I liked the barricade 7's, have new Gel Res 7's, which are really popular for a reason. I'm just looking for something that is going to have a softer rubber sole, and similar high emphasis stability. Novak says in the little promo video it will be good if you slide like him... LOL I'm no gumby so that's not happening but I'm certainly interested to see how it goes. Maybe just maybe it will be light/stable/and soft rubber. OFC then people won't like it for durability but... Rubber can't be durable and soft.

I used to use the gel res 7 but was experiencing quite alot of pain even after several months break in due to the weight, just felt it very taxing especially during training sessions, decided that my next purchase will be the Speed FF's since ive been using zoom vapor x's for the last 6 months. Im keen for these, but just wondering has anyone tried the Speed FF's and how do they compare to a zoom vapor x and what are your general opinion on them?

Does this mean that the original court ff is superseded? I think I’ll be okay with it as long as they didn’t mess with the fit. I have a pair of every iteration other than the limited edition. I guess new color ways will be available as the season goes on with the grand slam style changes.

We will know in a month.. but yeah, been using these since they came up, let's hope they do not mess with them, fit is great, plenty of other medium, wider models for asics to sell...

Yeah just leave everything between the outsole and my foot as is. I’m hoping the changes to the outsole and upper will improve the stability and durability which I imagine might be an issue for Novak the way he plays. Durability of the outsole is something that could be better. Nasty outdoor hard courts in the heat take a toll.

AFAIK, the orange pair is for this clay season for Novak, so there should be ones with clay outsoles. But you never know...

If only. I’m sure the pair made for Djokovic will have clay outsole. The twitter pics in this thread show the standard outsole only. The Court FF version Goffin wore on clay had clay outsoles but were never sold to the public. I’m hoping it’s different this time.

If so, I’m tempted to get a pair with the clay outsole (although I’ll have to hold my nose to forget about the tacky Djokovic logos).

Asics all court soles don’t have much traction on clay. It’s not impossible but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have used my new court speeds on clay with success, the "synthetic" clay is very grippy and they are fine. I havent played on red clay 28$ an hour isnt worth it, but the herringbone tread does work.
