Cool, it doesn't show up when you just search gel court FF. But man 70 bucks more than the ugly blue and yellow color way I already bought. I'll wait a while for it to go on sale and use my up existing pair first.
haha, i love the blue and yellow color way, but I know we all have different tastes. Of course, you have a good taste in racquets..

I like that color as well, the store had the gray color which was pretty cool too, but it was listed for $170, and they didn't have size 9 or 9.5 anyway ...
I pulled out my phone right there in the store and bot a pair of 9s for $99.95 arriving wednesday.

I wonder how this compares to the Lunar foam in the Vapor 7 and 8s. That foam compressed and never came back to life. And what you're quoting is the FlyteFoam in its purest form... I think it has to be altered (or hardened) for tennis to maintain stability.

this Flyte foam is re-inforced with Graphite strands...... and it will compress but springs right back to life again....and it does that for the life of the shoe. This is this only energy giving foam that never breaks down

Yeah, I dunno about that.... I think it'll break down. Maybe at a slower rate. Any Court FF users have any thoughts on the cushioning? Looks like there's GEL in the heel, too.

I think there's more GEL in this shoe than there is in the Gel Res or Solution Speeds, and it definitely feels that way. I see a big chunk of it under the heel that reminds me of a Zoom Air unit. Flyte Foam is new, so I haven't heard anything relating to how much time it takes to compress it. I know that when Lunarlon came out, there were floods of complaints about it compressing. I guess we will find out. Asics is #1 in running shoes, and this shoe feels more like a running shoe than any other tennis shoe I have. Maybe some runners out there can tell us if they've heard anything about Flyte Foam compressing.

Damn!!! I am between sizes in these too. I got both 10 and 10.5. The bigger ones feel long but they also seem to feel better on the ankle collet and don’t squeeze my forefoot. I did use them on the elliptical once so there may be a break in factor. The slammer ones feel better length wise but are very snug on the old pinky toes. I did have to loosen the strings. So I will use them on the elliptical as well. They feel like they are strangling my legs below my ankle.

Main question is will they relax or should I go with my regular size? Anyone worn them long enough to advise??

I'm going on week 3, If you are referring to the strangulation of your ankle, mine have relaxed. I went with my regular size. I probably have about a dozen sets in these baby's. They feel amazing each time.

Cushioning is noticeably better in the FFs. There's a huge difference between these and the Gel Res 7s when you put them on.

These shoes are different, but they have less cushion than my Bab SFX2s. I have worn them now and compared. SfX2's have more cushion to me. These are lower to the ground I think and have less heel cushion than the SFX2's. Could be the way they fit but I don't think so. I will give them a spin on the elliptical tomorrow night and see if they will give a bit. I think my true size will be too long for me.

Man, the SFX2's must be sweet if they have more cushion. I wanted to try them but the local store didn't have them. But still super pumped with the FF's.

I really don’t think of the FF’s as a comfort/cushion oriented shoe. I’m still going to train in my Adidas Crazylight Boosts because they have amazing cushioning that the FF’s can’t touch. I’ll use the FF’s for game day.

The FF’s are a performance shoe for high level match play that happen to have better cushioning than other shoes in that category. If you want a cushion oriented tennis shoe, the Babolat SFX and Prince T22 are better for that, but you’ll have to deal with a shoe that’s a little heavier and not quite as good at making directional changes.

Babolat has the same problem as the Barricades though - the sole is too narrow in the middle, so the custom insoles don't fit ... Asics shoes all have a wider base for a better fit for those.

True, but Asics shoes are usually cut so low you get increased heel slippage if your insoles are even a little bit thicker than the factory insoles. I’d rather squeeze my insoles into the Barricade and at least my heel will still be secure.

The guy at Surefoot that was making my insoles basically said that in Barricades those won't fit well at all ... the design is that jut the sole is too narrow in the middle...
Babolats have the same issue ... Zoom Cages, Asics and New Balance seeem to have a wider base, thus making it more of a candidate for insoles ...

I also LOVED (when trying them on) how FFs hugged my ankle ...

So, I went with a half size down. Tried them on with Nike Elite Basketball socks. Pretty snug, but not tight. I'm still going to return them in favor of the GR7s (the new grey colorway). I've been playing in Vapors for a while and want something akin to the CourtBallistecs, I want a beefy, bulky shoe with a durability guarantee. Cushion between the FF and Gel Res feel about the same for me - but there seems to be a little more Gel in the forefoot of the GR7s?! Can anyone confirm?

Also, the visible Gel in the heel seems to only be for looks, it doesn't extend under the heel if you peek through the Gel. It's superficial. SoleReview shows it in a running shoe where it's mainly foam on the inside and Gel is on the outside for looks.

I've always favored light shoes because of the possibility of more speed. To be honest, I loved these so much as soon as I started playing with them, I haven't specifically thought about whether it improved my first step. But - I think that the form fitting aspect of the FFs enable them to move very efficiently with your feet. I love my GSS2s on clay, but my feet definitely move more inside those shoes.

I meant like cushioning . does the cushioning give you good energy return and even make you explode with 1st step and even jump higher?

This is just my opinion after having worn the GR6 for about a year, which is supposed to have the same cushioning as the GR7. The GR6 feels soft and comfortable, but soft and comfortable didn't translate to impact protection. My knees would get sore at about the middle part of a rough 2nd set on clay. At least that was better than the Barricade 7, where my knees would get sore during the 1st set. This NEVER happened to me with the T22's or the Barricade Boost, even if I played on hard courts. So the GR6 failed me when it came to impact protection, and that was a deal breaker. I'll have to play with the FF's in a long match to find out if they are any better. So far I'm pretty optimistic because the cushioning does feel a lot better to me than the GR6.

Just got my FFs. Only having worn FFs am I realizing just how wrong the Barricades we're for my feet. For the love of God I couldnt lace them tight enough for my toe not to bang against the front (and no they are not too small), they are just too wide where my foot is narrow. I could never get my heel locked and Barricades (boost) always made me feel that my heel was slightly raised.

FFs hug the foot, without feeling to tight, when I slide fwd, they hold it in place without letting my foot slide inside. Heel is locked, ankle is hugged, and did I mention how sof they are...

Gonna get the Insole fitted and order a new pair.

what about giving back energy by adding spring to you 1st step ?? did it make you faster ?

Speed has never been my problem - quickness and first step - have been :(

I'll pay attention to energy giveback
I was just kidding about making you faster. But with new tech, there are better foam or other cushioning system that gives you energy return. what does that mean ? it means you have to do less work to push off in direction changes on tennis court. It adds up to less tired feet and legs. you can jump your highest capacity and move your top speed longer with less effort. that is what good cushioning does

I desperately want to try it on before I buy them but none of my local store carry this model. Only worry I have is my Custom $600 insole and if it will fit in there nicely without problems.

Also after you jump high for overhead and so on,,,did you feel your landings were stable and no worries about ankle twisting ?

I feel very stable with these, all over the court. No worries about twisting. The ankles and heels are really held in place, while the rest of the shoe feels comfortably roomy. I've never worn orthotics, so I can't help you, there. I assume you'd replace their insoles with yours?

Exactly. This is what I think I was trying to say. This was my experience with them just walking around the house and comparing them. Great shoe for fairly low to the ground speed and decent cushion. The cushion is not as good as the Babs, princes, or barricades in my opinion. Cool shoe though.

Overall cushioning is not up there with the heavier and less mobile T22 (and probably the SFX), but you can definitely make an argument that it's better cushioning than Barricades. I think it's totally better cushioning than regular Barricades. The Barricade Boost is a more interesting comparison. The FF wins in forefoot cushioning hands down. At the heel, I'll reserve judgement till later. I'll just say it's tough to beat the Boost heel for impact protection, and my knees never complained about it.

Yea but Barricades Boost are Heavy shoes.... I can't move fast in those,,so it don't matter how much energy Boost returns,,, I still can't move because shoe is so heavy. If they make a shoe with Boost in it that is around 13.5 oz,, and just as good of support on the sides, they have something there...

so the orthotics got fitted. I think they will need some getting used to, but it's nice having that plush feeling of FFs, and the arch support from the new insole, I feel my first step is going to be so much better in these ... can't wait to take them to court (tomorrow). Ordering another pair... $99 is just too good a price for these
