Asics Gel Court FF vs Gel Res 7

SC in MA

Professional
I've been a long time Gel Res user from GR1 thru GR5.

GR6 & GR7 became longer and narrower in my normal size and when I tried a 1/2 size down, they were too short and narrow. Fortunately, GR6 came in a Wide version, which I used in a 1/2 size down. Unfortunately, the Wide version is not available in GR7.

Late last month, because the GR7's don't fit me, I bought a pair of Court FF in a 1/2 size down from normal after first trying them on. They were tight all over at first, but after walking around the house with them for over a week, they opened up.

All week I went back-and-forth on returning them or keeping them, not so much for the sizing, but mainly because of the tight feeling of the booty. This morning I made a game day decision and instead of returning them, I decided to play with them for the first time today. I'm glad I did.

The length and width fit are both really good now. The feeling of the inner booty is definitely different than the standard tongue of the Gel Res, which is one of the reasons I was thinking of returning them. There's a snug, tight feeling in the mid-foot/ankle area that the Gel Res doesn't have. I didn't like it at first, but I'm getting used to it. I actually didn't really notice it much at all when wearing and playing with them on the court.

Some mentioned the Court FF shoe laces. They're fine for me and in fact, I think the thinner laces work well with the snug booty and light weight of the shoe.

Some mentioned the cushioning/comfort. For me, I don't feel like the Court FF's are more comfortable nor more cushioned than the Gel Res. Both are good in both shoes.

Bottom line, I don't think anyone can go wrong with either of these shoes, as long as they fit properly. The Gel Res is more sturdy, while the Court FF is lighter with the booty giving a snug feel, especially in the mid-foot area.

I absolutely love my Court FFs. Onto my second pair now. Had a similar experience when first trying them on, I bought the same size I always wear. Found them quite tight to begin with but they relaxed quite quickly.

Really happy with the feel and fit of the booty. Definitely going to stick with that style moving forward. Sadly I can't get any Court FFs in my size right now, I'm hoping the update comes along shortly as I'll need a new pair soon.

What is your feedback about the court FF after 6+ months?Do the last long and how s the outsole?Do they loosen up (for those who chosen a half size down). Is it still a good shoe for back and knees pain, or its getting harder in use?I just bought a mizuno wave exceed 2 (all my weist back problems got away) but i m thinking of another pair stable light with good cushioning.I have not put on these court ff yet , but its in my plans...

My Court FFs last me about 3-4 months at best. But that being said. I am in them 6-7 days per week so they get a fair amount of use. Definitely no worse than my recent pairs of New Balance shoes. Have been very happy with the Court FFs.
