I bought a pair of Gel Resolution 8's in the peacoat/white (mostly blue with white ASICS stripes and red outsole) color scheme yesterday. I had watched the TW review earlier in the day and noticed how some reviewers said that they went a half-size smaller. I had not been able to find a pair in my size (13) at any local shop or on TW, but I found a 12.5, so I bought those. They fit fine. My main concern is that my left Achilles tendon is sore. I've had soreness in that tendon for at least a couple of months now. I play twice a week, but I'd like to play three or maybe even four times. I've been irresponsible and not warmed up before hitting, which is generally a bad idea. However, I wonder if there is heel slippage in the shoe that is causing or contributing to it. I never had heel slippage with the Gel Resolution 7, but maybe I am with these. I don't notice my foot moving in the shoe. I tighten the laces to be very tight. I wear two pairs of Thorlo socks, so maybe all the padding around my heel doesn't allow the shoe to support the heel the way it should. I buy a new pair every six or eight weeks because I notice the cushioning flattens and doesn't support my foot as well as it did before. I wear custom insoles that support my arches. I stretch my calves and Achilles tendons (although not every day like I did for rehab for the months after I first hurt my foot). Achilles tendonitis scares me. I hope I find a solution. I'm looking at the thread about it on the health and fitness board for more ideas.
