[emoji362]aha moment...that explains the soreness I was distracted by the popping sound. Explains why toes hurt. Wore yesterday and can feel a big difference in the flex.

I recommend one size under your GR7 size. Minimum half a size under.
And I personally have too much space in the toe box compare to the GR7.
The GR7 fit my foot way better. So it's really depend to each one. Not only one truth!

Try maybe a 10, half size smaller and if it's short or snug stay at same size.
I kept same size but as @liftordie said it's roomier in the toe box and even with thick socks it remains quite roomy for me and maybe a bit long (I have slightly skinny feet medium width with thick orthotics). So I guess 1/2 size smaller would be perfect, depends on the fit you want.

It depends your foot form and how you like to have your foot locked.
I personally HATE when my foot is not PERFECTLY locked. I hate space in the toe box or the forefoot. I love TIGHT shoes.

I finally decided to buy a few pairs of G8 today. I needed a clay model and a couple hard court.
I don’t love any of the colorways currently available but decided not to wait for new options to come. The navy/red combo is ok, but it’s the Black/Blue/Tan that is hit or miss with me. If they just had stuck with black and blue it would have been fine. I have no idea what shoe designer would have approved adding the tan/khaki color.
So, that leads to my question. Does anyone know of any type of shoe marker or shoe paint that is on the market that would allow me to color the tan color black? If I could color than tan out of the shoe I think the shoe goes from a unforced errors to a winner.

Have you seen this colorway in person? I’ve seen it on the courts, and thought it looked pretty good. Looked more like “old gold” than “tan”.
I have. Just not my preference.
For those that don’t like the laces that come in the G8’s, any recommendations?

The tan/khaki color is supposed to match the clay surfaces imo.I have a pair and will wait for a different colour to buy one more.
I got a pair in my regular size, unfortunately, I think I should have gone down half a size.
I got them pretty cheap, and can't exchange them for a smaller size, only return.
Therefore, I'm contemplating to go double socks with them, to eliminate the extra space and get a better fit.
Anyone tried this and could share their experience?

Has anybody felt the GR8 has a little lower heel cup? My heel doesn’t slip but the shoe doesn’t feel as high as my vapor x.

Same here. I use double socks cause it's roomier in the forefoot area.

I had to go down a full size from what I ear in Vapor. Been experimenting with different socks to get the right feel. Found two styles of Adidas socks in Marshall's that work and Finish Line low cut socks. I can't wear too thick of a sock (bunion). If I'm moving my feet to setup they're noisy...good indicators for how lazy I'm being. Probably a few days, if not hours, away from ordering a pair of Vapor Cages...trying to see how close to 6month warranty I can get. I have to say I dont have foot fatigue after a match in the GR8. Still getting used to the upper material. Still wearing them casually to adjust after being in Vapors (favorite match shoe) since they dropped.

Not really. The only socks that make a weight difference for me are thorlos, and those are only if I’m wearing heavier shoes. I double sock my Nike socks all the time, comfortable and fills my shoes great.

Depending on how the fit is afterwards I would say no. If the fit becomes too tight then it is clunky. I just put too of my thorlos low socks on and tried my ASICS, I felt the socks way too much, so honestly I think it depends on how sweaty your socks are and how thick they are. If the fit is still good and has space, I’d say go for it, just don’t suffocate your foot.

I don't sweat tremendously in my feet so it seem to work for me. and it provides some great cushioning. but if you have sweaty feet, it would never work.

No I don't think so. I use one thin sock and one normal/thick sock and it's ok. Or I can use 2 normal socks instead. I never tried 2 thick socks.
All my socks are almost cotton, not other synthetic which makes sweat a lot.
Man I have the same problem and considering cutting it out too. My foot feels crunched in these abs I went up half a size. Does it really help?After reading one of the latest reviews (and one from the women's) I decided to cut out the straps and I actually like them way more. the tops of my feet were killing me before.
I'm feeling some discomfort with the "plastic" on the front as it folds, do you think it will improve? Should I change it for half size down or ask for another pair?

I love it when ASICS gives us a whatever color shoe but with white tongue and white laces . That always makes a shoe so much cooler

My guess is it will improve (or your foot get used to it!). I've had mine 6+months and the upper is considerably softened, while remaining very tuff.
Don't know but I'd think sizing down would mean you'd fill the forefoot area more completely yet you may experience increased chafing rather than less.

I usually get the 54" new balance oval laces either off amazon or e bay. lots of colors to choose from if you want to go for different looks. on the 8's though I have excess lace that I'll do another tie to take up slack. on res 7's and vapors 54" seemed good. maybe the new lacing or how many eyelets there are is why???
yeah, this is why I cut those out, so annoying. is there any other (LIKE ANY) shoe that has those? probably not...
If the plastic forefoot area is causing discomfort and also starting to fold to hurt your foot it is probably a shoe I would not use. I bought two pairs but have not worn them yet. Just by the reviews I see now from this thread I will send them back. I thought they looked great online but once I got them I think they are too "plasticy" and I think they would do exactly as what I have seen in these reviews. Shame that shoe companies make shoes cheaper and cheaper yet charge so much ( $170+ for them).
So I currently wear Court FF2 and I don't like how stiff they are because of the upper rubbery material. Making the shoe difficult to lace, and difficult to wear, and also making it less flexible. I see that the GEL-RES8 has more of a mesh material, and yet, I hear the reviews saying that the Court FF2 is more flexible!
So, is the GEL-RES8 gonna fix this problem (stiffness)? In other words, is it more flexible or more stiff compared to the Court FF2? Thank you.

The curious case of project one. Do you remember the over hyped PO7 with the all time high reviews ? Sth similar happens with Resolutions 8. I had high hopes that 7s flaws would be fixed.
The only thing that improved is that they have more grip and as a result they are more responsive and have better acceleration. Also they feel lighter.....
- Ventilation is an unknown word to these shoes. Probably the hottest shoe I ve ever tried. I feel my feet catching fire after a while.
- The first time you put them on it seems that they have improved the lockdown on the ankle area (tight with more padding) but in reality they are as fluffy like the old ones. And on top of that (despite i went half size down cause they are roomier) my feet was dancing in every direction..... sideways, back/forth even upside/down. Pretty mediocre stability a little better than solecourt boosts which had mostly sizing issues.
- If you combine a shoe that’s hot and unstable (feet sliding in every way) you get rubbing/skin damage on the heel.
- Thin laces... i can’t believe customers accepting sth that in 2-3 months it will be destroyed. They even cost saved the length of them.... try to use every hole and you won’t have enough lace-left to tight them up. Ridiculous!
- They made them more cushioned. Bottom of the shoe seems and feels a lot more reinforced and bulkier. But how do they play on real life ??? First of all they are totally disconnected.... you don’t feel anything of where your feet are. Like a muted modern racquet. And worst of all, the extra cushion has really ZERO DAMPENING ABILITIES. ZERO!!!! Asics continues their awful tradition with bad shoes for plantar fasciitis!!!! Try to brake/stop on your heels and you would feel the shockwave hitting your heel up to achiles tendon. I got pain from the first hour i tried them and soreness....
Do your self a favor and buy ubersonic 2s/3s or Vapor if you can afford them. Simple shoes and to the point. You would be amazed on how more soft/quick/cool/feedback and comfy uber3s play. They look so simple with their minimal design that you won’t even believe how good they play. Only good ASICS were speeds 2.

Seeing that you prefer the Ubersonic and the Vapor, I assume you like light weighted kicks rather than heavy ones. That might be a factor why you disliked the GR8. Don't get me wrong, I am not defending the GR8. As a matter of fact I have never tried them.
I can afford the Ubersoincs and Vapors, and they are great options, however, I cannot afford their durability.
By the way, the Asics Court FF2 is a great all-around shoe except for its price, and the fact they have a stiff upper in my opinion, and not mentioning the laces which is a common problem with all Asics(es). Otherwise, it is a great option; not very heavy weighted as the GR8, and not light weighted as the lightweight shoes, as a result you will have speed, comfort, stability and durability.

Mate last year i was playing (3 pairs in total) with the heavier solecourt boost. I don’t have issues with heavy shoes.... solecourt boost if they don’t have problems with sizing (i couldn’t found a size to fit me 100%) then they could be one of the best shoes ever released. I ve also wear resolutions since 5 version and 6 to me was the best.
FF court 1 is miles better than 2s. 2 are ultra racing fit like a glove and the upper is super stiff. Amazing traction but hard ride for my liking.

The looks though are the most thing that I mostly don't like about Adidas shoes, especially the solecourts.

Seems like a good quality shoe too. I am just waiting for the TW review on this before purchasing it. They have uploaded a short video yesterday, and they did not recommend it for a narrow foot so you gotta be careful there:
Gotta second your comments on the ventilation. It's been a humid last couple of weeks--50+% and in the 90s which is pretty high for here--and I've been able to wring the sweat out of my GR8s a couple of days. Thankfully my post-quarantine blisters have already turned into calluses.
They definitely feel more cushioned, but I like that more than I used to. The forefoot is still close enough that I get some response...at least when the shoes were new. I've already got a hole under the toe, and it's only been 3 weeks (45-50 hours). I personally really like the traction, and even though the cushion isn't that responsive I feel better after a few hours on court than I do with the GR7s. I guess it depends what you're looking for. The GR7 was definitely more responsive and seemed to have better rebound in the forefoot, and the GR8 flexes a bit better for me and locks my narrow mid/forefoot down better. Cushion is better for long days teaching and hitting, but they're not as durable as the older models for me. Maybe it's just me, but despite these differences, you're still getting a resolution...just slightly cushier and with a flexier but less breathable upper. But if you absolutely loved the GR7, you might not gel with these.
The tongue has a pocket to tuck the laces into, though, so that solves the thin, breaking laces problem.

Did it get a bit better after breaking in? I compared it side by side just like you did in your previous posts and the cut is different and the cutout of the ankle is definitely higher than the 7's...

I haven’t tried Novak’s shoe but this shoe feels decent. The weight doesn’t get to me because it feels slightly lighter than most durability shoes with the level of durability the gel res has, but I think they have the same or slightly different weights?
