Does anyone know if you get a warranty on gel resolution 8 if you purchased from the ASIC's own site? I don't see any info regarding the six-month outsole warranty on the product page.

Yes, you can return to them directly. Contact their customer service. That said, tennis warehouse has great service and fast shipping.

Does the clay version have the 6-mo warranty?

To answer my own query (in case somebody searching had the same question), yes, as provided by ASICS:

“We provide a six-month warranty on all of our Gel Resolution Series shoes(including the Gel-Resolution 8 Clay series) purchased from ASICS or an ASICS authorized retailer.”

I may use these on both hard and soft courts, but will probably end up using them solely on clay. But it’s nice to know the warranty is there if needed.

I think ASICS has changed their process due to COVID when it comes to handling warranty claims. In the past I would fill out the warranty card and mail the shoes to CA and would get a pair in the mail within 2-3 weeks. The last pair of gel resolution 8s I purchased directly from ASICS back in April of 2020. They came with the warranty card and instructions to mail them back to ASICS when claiming the 6 month warranty. I mailed them back in September 2020. About a week later I get a call from Rob with ASICS America saying that they received my shoes and qualify for the warranty claim, however they have no gel resolution 8s in my size to send me. He gave me his number and said that as soon as a pair was available he’d mail them out. I called him a few times over the coming weeks and still no 8s in my size. After about 2 months of calling back and check with rob from ASICS America he stopped returning my calls. In January I reached out to ASICS customer service and they told me to fill out a warranty claim online. I did what they asked and waited for two months and nothing. So about two weeks ago I called ASICS customer service again and the person pretty much had no clue. She said their process is to take a picture of the defective item and fill the online form out.
I explained to her that maybe your process has changed but 6 months ago that wasn’t the process. After going back and forth she said she would pass this along to a supervisor and I should get an email in a week. I waited about a week and a half and nothing. I calledASICS again and got someone who knew what they were talking about and was familiar with the old warranty processes. He mentioned they closed ASICS America in CA that handled the claims that went back via mail. He mentioned the claims are done via an online form and pictures of the shoe.
he asked me to fill out the online form again and explain the situation and I should hear something in a week. Two days later I got an email from ASICS with a voucher code to go on their website and get another pair of resolution 8s.
hope this helps

The Gel-Resolution 8 Clay's sole is like a tractor tire. There's no way to wear that out on clay in 6 months unless one would be using them on hard court.
Does this cover only the sole or also the upper?

@FIRETennis Sole only I believe. I’ll play them on clay and then transition to hard to get the warranty. Can’t say for sure, but I usually claim warranties after six weeks of hard court play (although gel res are better than most). Played on them last night for the first time on clay, these are awesome. Had traction I never had before.

Like many people on this thread I bought my usual size, it fits perfectly in width, but is slightly longer in the toe. I can double sock and put up with that, but I have one other issue and just wondered if anyone else had it and found a solution. Part of the shoe seems to touch my right ankle bone on and off when I run about. It's not sore, but just feels really odd and bit annoying. Anyone else had a problem with this and found a solution to this? Thanks guys.

Glad you were finally able to get it replaced. Did they offered you a voucher of the MSRP or the purchased price?

Do you remember if Asics used to say Gel Resolution 8 has six-months durability guarantee on the product page before? I no longer see it, and the shoes did not come with a warranty card. Maybe they no longer offer six-months durability on Gel Resolutions. The currently warranty process seems to apply for all types of footwear, and it doesn't include normal use wear and tear.

I got it at 40% off with first responder discount, so not being able to get another isn't too bad since I pretty much only paid half price for it.

They told me the voucher code is only good for gel resolutions on their website and it has no expiration date.
I believe in the past ASICS website did mention the 6 month warranty

dang wish they’d have done a fun green.
Dang I like the earth day color. I just got the Tokyo sunrise red ones a few days ago so I can cycle them with the US Olympics team colorway. I might have to scoop these up too.

I need clay shoes too though

Those look like my club's double guys' 90s Nikes that were left out in the sun and sometimes used on red clay :D
It's interesting, as consumers, during a time in which we have unprecedented supply shortages from tennis apparel manufacturers, god awful colorways like that are sent out our way. So we get few, if any choices, and the ones we get, look like very dull or a dumpster fire. Thank you Asics.

Who cares about the new colors can I just get any color in my size????
I am incredulous that the supply chain has been broken for so long. It makes these normal things seem like a commodity. Could you see these in the resale market like Jordan’s? Nuts.

new color way coming out soon:

You know what the problem will be? It will be like a month before the colorway gets sizes lol. When the speed ff 2 came out it was like March when they finally got sizes for the three colorways.

Quoted for truth. Been looking for, and waiting on Court FF2's from TW.....already paid for, going on 6 months! They keep pushing the date back. Supply problems on these shoes is becoming maddening. Asics makes their shoes right imo, and have been loyal for a decade! Need my damn shoes.

Just going to put this out there because it worked for me somehow, but have you checked the Asics site directly? A couple months ago, when the French blue GR8s came out I was going through the same thing with all of the major tennis sites pushing the dates, so I checked Asics.com for the heck of it and saw they had my size in stock. I put my order in just thinking that I was going to get an email notifying me of a later date and that it had to be too good to be true, but 2 days later my shoes arrived. Then a month later the ones I previously ordered arrived as well. Of course I am holding on to the second pair as I don't see this supply issue ending anytime soon.

Good advice to check the ASICS site. They do restock small numbers that sell out quickly. They are there once in a while, but to be successful you have to check every day.

While I appreciate the effort, I would rather have ASICS restock their regular line than make new temporary models

Very slippery on certain clay courts, where the clay has left and there is only the basic surface. In this cases the grip is almost zero.I fell yesterday ,in a little area like that.

GR8s clay have the best grip of any shoe that I've tried but I know what you mean about "bare clay courts". Nothing will grip on that.
Solution: refuse to play on terrible clay courts, it's dangerous and it might end up costing more in physio.

Just played in the speed FF 2 clay shoes. they're great. I think I would like the gel resolutions more but the traction is great. maybe I felt that it may be harder to stabilize my feet and make large movements vs GR. I just could not find any GR clay shoes

Edit: Ah, I should've read this first

"Rene: This depends on the playing style if you are an all-court player which means you tend to use the whole court, then I would suggest the Solution Speed FF 2 because it is lighter and more flexible helping the player to be faster.
If the player is most of the time moving from side to side behind the baseline, we call this the baseline playing style, then it is best to take the Gel Resolution 8 because it offers more stability in the midfoot area making sure it supports the player in the right way when moving from side to side."

With all the shoes out now, are these still worth it? What is their defining positive feature compared to other models, and is there anything the shoe offers over the Court FF2? I see mostly complaints in reviews but a new colorway has me interested.

Better price then court FF ? Gel Res 8 seem to be a light durable shoe or even a durable lighter shoe. Good support for a long time. I have not tried many shoes outside of Asics stuff but I'm curious as well for other comparaison with other brands.

This is the best all-around shoe that I have tried. I love them, on my fifth pair. Soft but with good court feel, stable yet relatively fast, especiell when the outsole is a bit worn. I'm set, my feet are not complaining. Cannot answer about the defining positive feature, since I have not tried all shoes on the market, but that's my five cents. Go for it! ✌

This is an excellent shoe. Comfortable and durable. One of the most stable shoes I've ever played in. For me, theres no need to look around at other shoes. It's either these or FF2s all the way.

I have both and use both interchangeably off and on. My choice is the Court FF2, but the GR8 is also a very good shoe. To me, which is very subjective, the definitive difference between these shoes is upper support and movement. The FF2 is more secure and stable in the upper and moves forward a bit better than the GR8, while the GR8 provides better side-to-side support if you are going to trade groundstrokes from the baseline all day long. The FF2's are definitely good at that also. but are a slightly quicker shoe that can do it all. I would not be disappointed if I had to take the GR8 over the FF2 for a day. Would still be thrilled!
